Genesis has solidified its presence in the world of professional golf by signing a new tournament title partner agreement with the DP World Tour.

Under this agreement, the Korea Championship will now be known as the Genesis Championship starting from 2024.

This significant move entails merging the tournament with the KPGA TOUR’s existing Genesis Championship, creating a premier golfing event.

The Genesis Championship is scheduled to take place at the esteemed Jack Nicklaus Golf Club in Incheon, South Korea, from October 24th to 27th.

Positioned as the final tournament in the Back 9 series, which features the DP World Tour’s most historic events and national Opens, the Genesis Championship holds a pivotal role in the golfing calendar.

The tournament’s format promises heightened excitement, with the top 110 players on the Race to Dubai Rankings in partnership with Rolex securing their DP World Tour cards for the following year.

Additionally, the top 70 players qualify for the DP World Tour Play-Offs. Notably, the prize fund for the event has been raised to $4 million, accompanied by 5,000 Race to Dubai Rankings Points up for grabs.

A unique aspect of the Genesis Championship is its co-sanctioned status with the KPGA TOUR, featuring a field comprising 90 DP World Tour players and 30 KPGA TOUR players.

This collaboration builds upon the Strategic Alliance established between the two Tours in May 2023, further enhancing opportunities for KPGA TOUR players to compete on the global stage.

Mike Song, Global Head of Genesis, expressed excitement about the partnership, emphasizing Genesis’ commitment to supporting Korean male golfers on their journey to global recognition.

Guy Kinnings, Chief Executive Officer of the DP World Tour, echoed this sentiment, highlighting the elevated status of the Genesis Championship in 2024 and the added excitement brought by the revamped Back 9 phase.

Wonsup Mike Kim, Commissioner and Chief Executive Officer of the KPGA TOUR and KPGA, commended the collaboration between the DP World Tour and KPGA TOUR, anticipating outstanding performances from KPGA TOUR players in the Genesis Championship.

Genesis has established itself as a key player in golf sponsorship, with a portfolio that includes the Genesis Invitational and the Genesis Scottish Open.

This latest partnership underscores Genesis’ dedication to fostering excellence and innovation in professional golf tournaments worldwide.
