Chiara Noja

16-year-old Chiara Noja stole the spotlight at the Aramco Team Series Jeddah, securing her maiden victory on the Ladies European Tour in a dramatic play-off against her childhood idol, Charley Hull.

Noja’s impeccable performance, including a tournament-low final round of 65, propelled her to victory, clinching the $75,000 first prize.

Despite the pressure, the Dubai-based high school senior displayed unwavering composure, sealing her triumph with back-to-back birdies in the play-off.

Reflecting on her remarkable achievement, Noja expressed disbelief and gratitude, emphasizing the significance of the moment.

The young golfer, who temporarily set aside her academic pursuits for the tournament, joked about her initial goal of winning to avoid returning to school.

Noja’s journey to victory came full circle as her father shared a nostalgic photo of her with Hull from a decade ago, underscoring the surreal nature of her accomplishment.

Nicole Garcia also left her mark on the tournament, delighting spectators with an eagle on the 18th hole to secure third place individually.

Furthermore, Garcia led her team to victory in the team competition, marking her second triumph as captain.

In a thrilling play-off against Team Wolf, Team Garcia emerged victorious with a decisive birdie, led by Garcia’s strategic decision-making and teammate Cassandra Alexander’s nerve-wracking but ultimately successful shot.

Amidst the celebrations, amateur Sonia Bayahya, a crucial member of Team Garcia, expressed her gratitude for the experience and camaraderie.

The Jeddah event concluded the 2022 Aramco Team Series, a series of prestigious tournaments that have become a highlight of the Ladies European Tour calendar.

As the golfing world celebrates Noja’s meteoric rise and Team Garcia’s triumph, anticipation builds for the future of the sport.
