Aramco Saudi Ladies International Elevates Prize Fund to Match Men’s Tournament

Georgia Hall wins on Ladies European Tour.

The Aramco Saudi Ladies International presented by PIF is poised for a historic shift in 2023, as its prize money skyrockets from $1 million to a staggering $5 million USD, aligning with the men’s PIF Saudi International powered by SoftBank Investment Advisers.

This substantial five-fold increase establishes parity between men’s and women’s tournaments, making it the third-highest purse on the Ladies European Tour (LET).

The tournament’s victor will be awarded a hefty $750,000 USD cheque, symbolizing a monumental stride towards gender equality in golf.

Scheduled to unfold from February 16-19, 2023, at the esteemed Royal Greens Golf & Country Club in King Abdullah Economic City, this momentous leap in prize money marks a renewed agreement between the LET and Golf Saudi.

With a stellar field of 120 competitors, including participants from the LET, the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings, and sponsor invitations, the event promises unparalleled excitement and competition.

Alexandra Armas, CEO of LET, heralds this milestone as a triumph for women’s sports globally, emphasizing its potential to drive social change and inspire future generations of female golfers.

The increased investment in the tournament dovetails with Saudi Arabia’s broader vision under Vision2030, aimed at fostering greater participation in sports among Saudis, including golf.

Since its inception in 2020, the Aramco Saudi Ladies International has catalyzed a surge in female participation in golf across the Kingdom, aligning seamlessly with Vision2030’s objectives.

Majed Al Sorour, Deputy Chairman and CEO of Golf Saudi, expresses delight in offering equal prize money to women, underscoring the organization’s commitment to elevating women’s golf and nurturing local talent.

The exponential rise in the prize fund not only underscores Golf Saudi’s dedication to rewarding female golfers but also aims to encourage more women to embrace the sport nationwide.

The tournament serves as a beacon of inspiration, showcasing top female golfers as role models and paving the way for increased female participation in Saudi Arabia’s golfing landscape.

Partnering with Golf Saudi in this endeavour, title sponsor Aramco reaffirms its steadfast support for women’s golf, championing equality and empowerment through the sport.

The Aramco Saudi Ladies International stands as a testament to the transformative power of golf in fostering inclusivity, equality, and empowerment on and off the course.
