The PGA Family Golf Championship isn’t just another tournament; it’s a celebration of family and golf.
Teams of 2-4 players, all biologically or legally related, will gather at this storied venue for a weekend packed with memorable moments.
Last year’s inaugural event at PGA West in La Quinta, California, saw nearly 150 participants from 24 states come together, proving the universal appeal of this family-centric competition.

Four Divisions, Infinite Fun
The championship offers four divisions, ensuring everyone can find their place on the fairway:
- Junior: Teams with at least one adult and one junior
- Adult: All-adult teams
- Professional Adult: Teams with at least one PGA or LPGA Professional
- Professional Junior: Teams with at least one PGA or LPGA Professional and one junior
Juniors aged 10-17 on September 28, 2024, can compete, following the American Development Model (ADM).
The competition kicks off with a scramble format in the first round, where teamwork is paramount.
For the junior divisions, both an adult and a junior must attempt each shot. The final round switches to a modified alternate shot format, with juniors and adults alternating shots in their respective divisions. The lowest 36-hole stroke play total will determine the champions.
Beyond the Championship
The excitement starts a day early, on Friday, September 27, with optional practice rounds, a putting contest, and a welcome reception at Disney’s Palm and Disney’s Magnolia Golf Clubhouse.
The main event runs through the weekend, culminating in an awards ceremony immediately following Sunday’s play.
PGA Family Golf launched nationally in 2022, drawing inspiration from the successful PGA Jr. League program.
This initiative aims to bring family members of all ages and skill levels together on multi-generational teams, fostering connections that go beyond the golf course.
Local PGA Family Golf participants can earn invitations to the National Championship through various qualifications, including top finishes at local events and previous championships.
