The 2024 PING Junior Masters finale at Close House’s Colt Course was a spectacle not to be missed.
Picture this: October 29th, a crisp autumn day, and about 70 young golfers, each eager to strut their stuff and swing for the stars.
With eyes on the prize, these lads and lasses were relentless, the scores so tight you couldn’t slip a scorecard between them.
In a breathtaking showdown, it was 10-year-old Havish Aravind from Brampton Golf Club who emerged as the champ, bagging a whopping 39 points.
Watching these kids put everything they had into every swing was absolutely heartwarming—it was all guts, glory, and a wee bit of cheeky bravado.
Adding to the excitement, golf legend Lee Westwood was there, sprinkling a bit of that star power as he handed out prizes to the winners and held a lively Q&A.
Lee’s been part of the Junior Masters from the beginning, and he’s got a soft spot for the event.
He wants to see junior golf thrive, and that’s exactly what he’s managed to do here.
It is great to see so many junior golfers competing” commented Westwood. “I’m thrilled to be involved with the series and it’s great to see how it has grown over the past seven years.
Thanks to Close House, PING, and of course the parents who have supported their children in their golfing journeys so far.”
Thanks to Close House, PING, and all those parents who’ve been there supporting their kids in golf.” It’s safe to say his excitement was contagious.
Close House Managing Director Jonathan Lupton shared in the pride, saying, “We’re so proud to keep this legacy going.
It all started when we hosted the 2017 British Masters, and it’s grown ever since. A huge thanks to PING for sticking with us and supporting junior golf.”
And support they did—PING supplied the prizes for the day, making sure this grand final was one the juniors wouldn’t soon forget.
Dave Fanning, PING’s European Marketing Director, put it nicely: “We are extremely proud to continue this legacy event which started when we hosted the 2017 British Masters Golf Tournament at the club.
I would like to thank PING for their continued support of the event which looks to engage more juniors in the game we love.”
Qualifying rounds ran from April through September, sweeping across eight counties from Fife to Lincolnshire, giving junior golfers the chance to dive into the competitive side of the game.
And Close House didn’t stop there—they’re bringing golf to over 1,200 schoolchildren each year through free coaching, lighting a fire for the sport in the next generation.
Here’s a round-up of this year’s age group champs:
Boys U12 Winner – Havish Aravind (Overall Champion)
Boys U18 Winner – Henry Murphy
Girls U18 Winner – Kayla Hill
Boys U15 Winner – James Henderson
Girls U15 Winner – Amelia Hothersall

In every way, the 2024 PING Junior Masters celebrated young golfers and all they bring to the game.
From the nail-biting play to the cheers and smiles, it’s clear the future of golf is in talented, steady hands.
And who knows? Maybe one day, we’ll be watching some of these juniors teeing off as pros.
