Why Central Vietnam Is Australia’s New Favourite Golf Destination

If you’re an Australian golfer seeking a fresh challenge, Central Vietnam might just have your next tee time.

Clubs throughout the Vietnam Golf Coast (VGC) region are buzzing with news that they’re scoring more Aussie visitors than ever.

At Montgomerie Links alone, annual rounds by Australian golfers have jumped from 1,700 to 2,200—a 20% boost. Meanwhile, Ba Na Hills Golf Club has seen an even bigger spike of 35–40% in the same timeframe.

Teed Up for Success

So, what’s driving this surge? One key factor is timing. Many Australians come to Vietnam during their winter months—often quieter for overseas guests—which keeps Central Vietnam’s courses busy year-round.

But it’s more than just hitting the fairways under sunny skies. A flurry of promotional efforts specifically targeting Aussie audiences has helped put Vietnam golf front and centre.

Over the past year, local organisers have rolled out the red carpet for top Australian golf publications, including Golf Digest Australia, letting them experience the region’s stunning links firsthand.

Roadshows Down Under

Laguna Golf Lang Co has played a leading role in driving Aussie business

Laguna Golf Lang Co, a renowned Sir Nick Faldo design and founding member of the VGC, took the spotlight by hosting roadshows in Melbourne and Sydney earlier this year.

The resort’s team showcased Central Vietnam’s fairways to Australian tour operators and media, highlighting courses from Luke Donald’s Ba Na Hills Golf Club to Colin Montgomerie’s signature Montgomerie Links.

These gatherings also brought in the Danang Tourism Promotion Centre, underscoring the region’s all-around appeal—luxurious stays, cultural adventures, and of course, top-notch golf.

Stephen Banks, Director of Golf at Laguna Golf Lang Co, believes these roadshows are a game-changer for the region. “These roadshows demonstrate our commitment to positioning Central Vietnam as a leading golf destination for Australians,” he said.

“By fostering connections with key players in the market, we aim to build lasting partnerships and promote sustained tourism growth.”

Putting Central Vietnam on the Map

Montgomerie Links has witnessed a significant uptick in Australian visitors this year

Club manager Le Vo Hoang Van at Montgomerie Links credits this success to both the marketing push and the undeniable charm of the place. “Australian golfers are drawn to the region’s world-class courses, stunning landscapes, and warm hospitality,” she said.

“The recent uptick in rounds is a testament to the effectiveness of our outreach efforts.”

Over at Ba Na Hills Golf Club, general manager Simon Mees calls the uptick from Australia “The Australian market has been a game-changer for us,” he added.

“It’s gratifying to see how well our course resonates with these visitors. The feedback we’ve received has been overwhelmingly positive, and we’re excited to continue building on this momentum.”

More Than Great Greens

Central Vietnam is wowing Australian guests

Central Vietnam’s golf offerings go beyond flawless fairways. What truly sets them apart is the region’s vibrant culture—think bustling markets, a rich historical tapestry, and irresistible local cuisine.

After a satisfying day on the greens, many Aussies dive into the area’s treasures, whether it’s exploring ancient temples, savouring authentic street food, or unwinding at a chic beach resort.

It’s this blend of top-notch golf and cultural immersion that makes Central Vietnam a standout destination for golf enthusiasts seeking more than just a game.

Central Vietnam is making serious strides in cementing its reputation as Vietnam’s premier golf destination, and it’s clear the region’s marketing efforts and roadshows are hitting the mark.

If your mind drifts to palm-lined fairways and off-course escapades, the Vietnam Golf Coast might just be the getaway you’ve been dreaming of.
