Recreating Golf History: The Hagen54 to Tee Off at Kent’s Finest Links in 2025

The Hagen54 golf event is set to electrify Prince’s Golf Club this summer, spotlighting one of Kent’s most remarkable golfing legacies.

From 23 to 24 July 2025, this one-of-a-kind competition pays tribute to legends Jim Barnes and Walter Hagen, whose bold three-course feat along the coast of Royal Cinque Ports, Royal St George’s and Prince’s Golf Club in 1920 still resonates today.

This singular celebration sees participants challenge themselves with an ambitious 54-hole journey in a single day, echoing those famous footsteps across Kent’s iconic links.

The day begins with 11 holes at Royal Cinque Ports, followed by 10 at Royal St George’s, and concludes with a full 18 at Prince’s—before returning to where it all started to finish off the remaining holes of the other two Championship courses.

It promises to be a spirited nod to golfing history, where modern players can embrace a tale almost as old as the sport itself.

“We’re honoured to be part of The Hagen54,” said Rob McGuirk, General Manager of Prince’s Golf Club.

“The southeast of England boasts a proud tradition of riveting championships on world-renowned links, and The Hagen54 looks forward to building on that legacy. Hosting golfers from near and far at our venue is a real privilege.”

Golfers seeking to add an optional warm-up round can tee off at Prince’s or Royal Cinque Ports on Wednesday, 23 July, then gather for a welcome reception and barbecue at Royal Cinque Ports Golf Club.

With the main event’s shotgun start at dawn on Thursday, the day is set for an adventure that includes on-course catering, caddies on request, and a hearty supper at the finish.

Prince’s Golf Club, with its rugged coastal beauty and world-class links, is the perfect backdrop for a challenge as special as The Hagen54.

This isn’t just another golf event—it’s a walk through history with your clubs in tow, a proper test of nerve, stamina, and perhaps your ability to keep the ball on the planet after 54 holes.

Whether you’re here to chase glory or just to say you survived it, one thing’s for certain: the stories, the laughs, and the sheer madness of the day will be just as rewarding as the golf itself.
