Sunshine Tour Stars Battle for DP World Tour Cards at DNi Tour Championship

The DNi Tour Championship presented by RMB tees off this Thursday at the Blair Atholl Golf and Equestrian Estate, promising high drama, big rewards, and one final push in what’s been a landmark season on the Sunshine Tour.

This R3 million showdown brings together the top 50 available professionals from the Sunshine Tour for a 72-hole climax that isn’t just about the trophy — it’s about legacy, opportunity, and a shot at golfing greatness.

As the curtain falls on the inaugural Courier Guy Playoffs Series, the DNi Tour Championship doubles as the Tour’s ultimate test of consistency.

It offers a gateway to life-changing prizes, including DP World Tour cards, Major Championship exemptions, and hefty cash bonuses.

Leading the Order of Merit delivered by The Courier Guy is the in-form Daniel van Tonder. He’s had a thunderous season: four wins, 13 top-10s, and now, within touching distance of his first-ever Order of Merit crown.

With second-placed Shaun Norris out of the field, only Dylan Naidoo, currently in third, can apply pressure. Naidoo trails by 555.19 points, with 795.10 points up for grabs for this week’s winner.

Van Tonder, who’s twice been the bridesmaid in the race for the Order of Merit, will need to hold off a chasing pack hungry to make their mark. But barring a surprise stumble, this could finally be his moment.

Beyond personal glory, the stakes couldn’t be higher:

  • The top three on the final Order of Merit delivered by The Courier Guy will earn DP World Tour cards.
  • The champion bags R500,000 and exemptions into the Nedbank Golf Challenge, The Open Championship, and the US PGA Championship.
  • Second and third place walk away with R200,000 and R100,000 respectively.

For players who already hold DP World Tour cards, these benefits will cascade down to the next non-exempt golfer, up to the 10th-ranked finisher.

Dr Ryan Noach, CEO of DNi Group, couldn’t have scripted it better for their debut as title sponsor.

“DNi is thrilled to be hosting the DNi Tour Championship, in partnership with RMB and the Sunshine Tour.

This championship creates a platform for the leading 50 Sunshine Tour professionals to compete for top spot at the challenging Blair Atholl golf course.

DNi stands for greatness and excellence, and prides ourselves on partnering founders in distribution, telecoms and tech businesses to excel, grow and win!

Golf offers a unique platform for industry leaders to engage socially and competitively, and together with RMB, we look forward to the event and the time together with valued colleagues,” he said.

Echoing this vision, Rob Leon, Investment Banking Managing Executive at RMB, added: “RMB is proud to partner with DNi in bringing another exceptional event to the Sunshine Tour calendar.

This partnership is built on a shared belief in greatness and optimism – whether that be in sport or business.

Just as we support businesses by providing financial and strategic backing within a collaborative ecosystem, we also recognise the importance of investing in talent and creating opportunities for excellence.

The partnership is a natural fit, and we look forward to building on it in the years to come.”

Another title will also be decided this week: Fortress Rookie of the Year. Altin van der Merwe currently leads the standings and is on track for the R200,000 bonus that goes with it.

With pride, prestige, and a fortune on the line, the DNi Tour Championship is set to deliver a final chapter worthy of a truly unforgettable Sunshine Tour season.
