Rahm’s Homecoming: Ready to Take on Vesterby Links

Christofer Rahm is buzzing with excitement as he prepares to play on familiar turf at the Indoor Golf Group Challenge, held at Landeryds Golfklubb’s Vesterby Links.

This marks a significant moment for Rahm, who is playing his first season on the Challenge Tour after a stellar run in the Nordic Golf League.

His journey to this point has been nothing short of impressive, with three swift victories on the satellite tour, including titles at the Golfstar Winter Series – Forest, Ecco Tour Spanish Open, and Stora Hotellet Fjällbacka Open.

Returning to Sweden for the first time since his promotion, Rahm is eager to take on Vesterby Links, a course he knows inside out.

“It feels good to be back home,” Rahm said, reflecting on the comfort of playing in familiar surroundings.

“I’ve been on the road for a bunch of weeks now, so it’s nice to be back home and closer to family.”

The Swede’s familiarity with Vesterby Links could be his ace this week. The course, which has a slightly links-style layout uncommon in Sweden, presents unique challenges, especially around the greens.

“It’s a great layout, a little different than most courses in Sweden, being a little linksy, and there’s a bunch of runoffs around the greens,” Rahm explained. “You want to be aggressive, but smart-aggressive.”

Rahm has already shown he can handle the pressure, making the cut in his first four Challenge Tour events and even securing a third-place finish at the Challenge de Cadiz.

At just 26 years old, Rahm is focused on staying grounded and enjoying every moment on the tour.

“I’ve been trying to stay in the present and not look too far ahead,” he said. “I’m trying to enjoy the ride and remember that I’ve put myself in a position to be out here, rather than putting added pressure on myself.”

As Rahm prepares for the first round of the Indoor Golf Group Challenge, he will be part of a strong Swedish lineup, including Björn Åkesson, Mikael Lindberg, and Joakim Lagergren.

The event also features a formidable field with DP World Tour winners like Alexander Levy and Chris Wood.

Rahm’s tee time is set for 1:30 pm, where he will face off against Lagergren and Levy.

With the support of a home crowd and the comfort of a course he knows well, Rahm is poised to make the most of this opportunity.
