Pro V1 Just Got an Upgrade—And Tour Pros Are Loving It

If you’re the sort of golfer who lines up a five-footer the way a surgeon aligns a scalpel, the new Titleist AIM Performance Golf Balls are about to become your favourite playing partner.

Available now across the legendary Pro V1, Pro V1x, and Pro V1x Left Dash models—the undisputed kings of the PGA TOUR, LPGA, and every other tour worth its grass seed—these balls arrive preloaded with a tour-proven alignment marking that takes the guesswork (and the Sharpie) out of your setup routine.

Yes, folks, Titleist has officially given your putting line the professional treatment. The AIM Performance marking—a sleek, double-sided arrow—is custom-printed opposite the standard sidestamp and stretches a whopping 65% longer than what you’ll find on the stock 2025 Pro V1. In the right hands, it’s less of a line and more of a laser-guided missile.

“Player feedback is at the core of everything we do in product development,” said Frederick Waddell, Titleist’s Director of Golf Ball Product Management.

“We saw a growing interest in various alignment aids and cues printed directly on the golf ball from the dedicated golfer. Our AIM lineup consists of three unique performance-oriented designs, all geared to help golfers set up and then start their golf ball on its intended line.”

From Makeshift to Mainstream: The Evolution of AIM

Believe it or not, Titleist has been flirting with the idea of alignment since 2007, when they first slipped a sidestamp feature onto the Pro V1 thanks to incessant tinkering from tour players who were drawing lines on their golf balls with everything short of lipstick.

Since then, the evolution of Titleist AIM Performance Golf Balls has paralleled the modern player’s obsession with precision—and frankly, it’s about time someone saved our thumbs the agony of trying to draw a straight line on a dimpled surface.

But this isn’t just about optics. To separate performance from placebo, Titleist R&D ran a controlled test comparing four markings: AIM 360, AIM Performance, AIM Enhanced, and the traditional Pro V1 sidestamp.

Players were told to line ‘em up, fire away, and results were tracked by how close they came to the intended line. Spoiler alert: the AIM-enhanced balls improved precision by up to 35%.

“The R&D test results were extremely validating in showing that these products offer a distinct performance advantage in precision alignment; they’re not just decorations,” Waddell added.

Tour-Tested and Player-Approved

If you think this is all marketing smoke and mirrors, just ask Viktor Hovland, who uses a black line religiously.

“I use a black line, because I cannot putt without this,” said Hovland. “I literally cannot aim … I’ve just never been good at just standing over the ball and being able to aim that way. I’ve found it’s really helped my putting, especially on the short ones.”

And then there’s Brad Faxon—a man who’s stroked more putts than most of us have had hot dinners.

“I’ve used a line on every single putt I’ve hit professionally since the early 90s,” said Faxon. “It helps me to get the ball on the start line, where I want the ball to go.”

Fit to Your Game, Not Just Your Eye

Let’s not forget, while the Titleist AIM Performance Golf Balls are a sharp tool for alignment, they still come wrapped in the performance differences that make each model unique.

Pro V1 offers a mid-flight trajectory with lower long-game spin and a soft feel.

Pro V1x flies higher, spins more, and gives a slightly firmer feel. The Pro V1x Left Dash? Think of it as a high-flying, low-spinning rocket for those who want distance without the zip.

Whatever your preference, Titleist’s got the AIM to match your game.

Where to Find Them

The new AIM Performance golf balls are now available at titleist.co.uk and select golf shops throughout the UK and Ireland, priced at a cool £52 per dozen.

A small price to pay to stop misreading five-footers like they’re written in Braille.

So go on—ditch the marker pen, embrace the arrow, and let the Titleist AIM Performance Golf Balls guide you home. Or at least to the bottom of the cup.
