MacIntyre and Lawrence Gear Up for Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship

Robert MacIntyre and Thriston Lawrence

DP World Tour winners Robert MacIntyre and Thriston Lawrence are the latest stars to confirm their participation in the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship, the first event of the DP World Tour Play-Offs, happening from November 7-10.

They’ll be joining defending Race to Dubai Champion Rory McIlroy at Yas Links for the fourth Rolex Series event of the season.

Both golfers secured their spots in this penultimate event with stellar performances in July. Fans can now register for free tickets for all four days of the event here.

As part of the new DP World Tour Play-Offs, the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship will feature the top 70 available players from the Race to Dubai Rankings in Partnership with Rolex, wrapping up the ‘Back 9’.

By the end of the week, the top 50 players will advance to the season-ending DP World Tour Championship, where the Race to Dubai Champion will be crowned.

MacIntyre and Lawrence are among the brightest talents on the DP World Tour, having both clinched the Sir Henry Cotton Rookie of the Year Award and amassing seven victories on Tour between them.

MacIntyre, a member of Europe’s Ryder Cup-winning team last year, claimed his first Rolex Series victory on home soil, narrowly beating a world-class field at the Renaissance Club to win the Genesis Scottish Open by one stroke.

This victory, coupled with his win at the RBC Canadian Open in June, has rocketed him to a career-high 16th in the Official World Golf Ranking.

“I’m looking forward to ending my season in the Middle East again,” said MacIntyre, who is making his fourth consecutive appearance in Abu Dhabi.

“I’ve played well in the UAE before and I’d love to be in the mix on Sunday and try to get my hands on that famous trophy.”

The Scotsman, who won the Rookie of the Year Trophy in 2019, currently sits third in the Race to Dubai Rankings in Partnership with Rolex.

Lawrence has had a consistent 2024 Race to Dubai season, with three runner-up finishes and his best Major Championship performance to date, finishing fourth at The 152nd Open.

The South African, who won the Rookie of the Year Award in 2022 with two victories in his debut season, has since added two more titles, the latest being the 2023 BMW International Open, his fourth DP World Tour victory.

“I’m excited to return to the Middle East to finish the year,” said Lawrence. “I also have some unfinished business with the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship after I had to pull out of last year’s event due to injury.

It’s a region I’ve always enjoyed playing in. I like Yas Links, and I’m hoping to build on the form I’ve shown this year and finish my season strong.”

Alongside the world-class golf at Yas Links, there will be a full program of events for the whole family, including activities for children, and the popular Ladies Day and Family Day on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.

Fans seeking to upgrade their experience can choose from a range of Premium Experience options, with The Championship Chalet offering an exclusive balcony overlooking the 18th green.

The Ticket+ option provides exclusive access to a bar overlooking the ninth green, as well as priority parking and shared seating.
