Leading the Charge: Laura Frick’s Historic Role as 2026 Women’s PGA Championship Director

The PGA of America has named Laura Frick, PGA, as the new Women’s PGA Championship Director for the 2026 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship—a role that signals a fresh, historic chapter in women’s golf.

In this capacity, Frick becomes the first female PGA of America Member to helm one of the Association’s Spectator Championships, overseeing every detail at Hazeltine National Golf Club in Chaska, Minnesota next June.

Breaking new ground and teeing up for history, Frick’s appointment is as groundbreaking as a perfectly executed approach shot.

“We are incredibly excited to have Laura leading our efforts for the 2026 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship,” said PGA of America Senior Director of Championships David Charles.

“Laura’s dynamic leadership and extensive experience make her an ideal fit for this role. Her strategic insight and passion for championship management will help us stage an outstanding event in 2026.”

Now entering her eighth year with the PGA of America, Frick brings a wealth of experience to the table.

Previously serving as Director of Competitions since December 2021, she spearheaded the 13u and 17u National Car Rental PGA Jr. League Championships—a series that offers boys and girls alike a fun, social, and inclusive opportunity to compete on a national stage.

Her role as Women’s PGA Championship Director is a natural extension of her dedication to elevating the game.

Adding another impressive chapter to her career, Frick has also managed the National Collegiate Club Golf Association and PGA Family Golf programs.

By working hand in hand with more than 30,000 PGA of America Golf Professionals nationwide, she has consistently brought communities together and sparked local enthusiasm for the sport.

“I am truly honoured and excited to take on this role with the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship,” said Frick.

“This Championship continues to showcase the best women players in the world competing at elite major championship venues all while elevating and empowering women on and off the golf course.

I look forward to collaborating with our partners at KPMG and the LPGA as well as the Club and local community leaders as we prepare for an incredible championship in 2026.”

A native of Hudsonville, Michigan, Frick’s journey in golf is rooted in her early days with the PGA of America’s Player Engagement and Member Championships departments, and her academic foundation was laid at Ferris State University’s PGA Golf Management program in 2015.

Looking ahead, the PGA of America is already preparing for the next milestone—the 2025 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship, scheduled for June 19-22 at Fields Ranch East at PGA Frisco, marking its debut in Texas in the event’s 70-year history.
