Well, well, well! It’s time to break out the fireworks and the good whiskey because Keegan Bradley has been anointed as the United States Captain for the 2025 Ryder Cup.
Yes, you heard it right. The man who once lit up Medinah with his fiery play is now stepping into the spotlight as the leader of the American squad at Bethpage Black from September 26-28, 2025.
John Lindert, the big cheese over at PGA of America, couldn’t contain his excitement when he made the announcement. “I am proud and excited to name Keegan Bradley as Captain of the 2025 United States Ryder Cup Team,” he gushed.
Lindert, who moonlights as the PGA Director of Golf at The Country Club of Lansing, went on to sing Bradley’s praises.
“Keegan’s past Ryder Cup experience, strong relationships, and unwavering passion for this event will prove invaluable as he guides the U.S. Team over the next year and a half.
We are confident that with Keegan at the helm, the 2025 U.S. Ryder Cup Team will compete at Bethpage with the same confidence and determination that has defined his career.”
Now, if you’ve been living under a rock and missed Bradley’s career highlights, let me enlighten you.
This Woodstock, Vermont native burst onto the Ryder Cup scene in 2012 at Medinah Country Club, making quite the impression with a 3-1-0 record.
He followed that up with another spirited performance in 2014 at Gleneagles in Scotland.
His Ryder Cup career stats? A solid 4-3-0, including a 2-1-0 in foursomes and a pristine 2-0-0 in four-ball. Not too shabby, eh?
Bradley’s journey to professional golf began in 2008 after a standout collegiate run at St John’s University.
Since then, he’s racked up eight worldwide victories and 58 top-10 finishes across 347 PGA TOUR events.
And who could forget his dramatic playoff victory at the 2011 PGA Championship at Atlanta Athletic Club?
It was the stuff of legend. Plus, he lent his talents to the 2013 Presidents Cup, helping the U.S. to an 18½ to 15½ win with a 2-2-1 record.
When asked about his new role, Bradley couldn’t hide his excitement. “I am incredibly honoured to accept this opportunity to Captain the United States Team at the 2025 Ryder Cup,” he said.
“I would like to thank the PGA of America Ryder Cup Committee for their trust in me as we embark on this journey to Bethpage Black.”
He continued, “My passion and appreciation for golf’s greatest team event have never been stronger.
The Ryder Cup is unlike any other competition in our sport, and this edition will undoubtedly be particularly special given the rich history and enthusiastic spectators at this iconic course. I look forward to beginning preparations for 2025.”
So, there you have it, folks. Keegan Bradley is your man for 2025, and he’s ready to lead the United States with the same tenacity and flair that he’s shown throughout his career. Buckle up, because it’s going to be one heck of a ride at Bethpage Black!
