Major Champion and former World Number One Justin Rose is set to grace Le Golf National with his presence at the FedEx Open de France this October.
From the 10th to the 13th, Rose will be navigating the formidable L’Albatros Course, a venue renowned for its pivotal role in the 2018 Ryder Cup and the upcoming 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
This event marks a significant homecoming for the Englishman. Le Golf National is etched into Rose’s history, having been the battleground where Europe clinched victory in the 2018 Ryder Cup.
Reflecting on his return, Rose shared, “I’m really excited to get back to Le Golf National in October”.
“It’ll actually be my first time back at the course since that incredible Ryder Cup week, so I’m looking forward to getting re-acquainted with the venue”.
I have some wonderful memories of that week and it’ll be great to return to Paris later this year.”
Joining Rose in the field is French favourite Matthieu Pavon, who will undoubtedly draw enthusiastic support from the home crowd.
The anticipation is palpable as fans prepare to witness Rose’s first appearance in the Open de France since 2012.
A Legacy of Excellence
Justin Rose’s career is a testament to resilience and excellence. His accolades include a gold medal for Team GB at the 2016 Rio Olympics, a U.S. Open victory in 2013, and the prestigious PGA TOUR’s FedEx Cup in 2018.
Rose’s triumph in the FedEx Cup added him to a select group of players who have conquered season-long standings on both sides of the Atlantic, following his Order of Merit win on the DP World Tour in 2007.
His success extends to national opens, with five of his eleven DP World Tour victories being in such tournaments.
These include the Scottish Open, Hong Kong Open, and two Turkish Opens, alongside his U.S. Open title.
Rose’s affinity for national opens underlines his competitive spirit and knack for performing on prominent stages.
Reflecting on the FedEx Open de France, Rose stated, “FedEx is an organisation that has done a lot for golf in the United States and I think we’re all looking forward to seeing that impact at this year’s Open de France.
Of course I’m very proud to have won a FedEx Cup in the past and it would mean a lot to add another historic national open to my trophy cabinet.”
A Storied Tournament
The FedEx Open de France, now in its 106th edition, is the oldest national open on Continental Europe.
It boasts a storied history with past champions that read like a who’s who of golfing legends: Seve Ballesteros, Colin Montgomerie, Bernhard Langer, Sir Nick Faldo, José María Olazábal, Byron Nelson, and Walter Hagen.
This year’s tournament is part of the DP World Tour’s prestigious ‘Back 9’, a series of nine historic tournaments and national opens.
These events offer members vital opportunities to secure their playing rights for 2025 and advance to the season-ending ‘DP World Tour Play-Offs’.
