Big news for everyone at Alpine Country Club and local golf fans—John Fought is making a grand return to Utah! This isn’t just a quick visit though; he’s rolling up his sleeves to put together a state-of-the-art practice facility and spruce up our beloved course right here in Highland.
Now, let’s break down the excitement: a whopping $6.8 million project is on the horizon, part of a bold 10-year vision that kicks off in July 2025 and promises to dazzle us by Fall 2027.
That’s a bit of a wait, sure, but the kind of stuff we’re talking about? Absolutely worth it.
Imagine this: the Alpine Country Club, already a knockout with its jaw-dropping views of the American Fork Canyon and those towering Wasatch Mountains, is set to get even better.
Thanks to the sharp minds at Troon Privé, the place we all love for local and national tournaments, as well as a breeding ground for top-notch golf talent, is about to level up.
John’s no stranger around here—he’s the genius who revamped holes 11, 12, and 13 back in ’08 and gave our bunkers a facelift in 2018.
This time, he’s planning something bigger: a practice facility that’ll expand from 19,000 to a massive 68,000 square feet, plus a short game area that’ll grow to over 10 acres.
And let’s not forget the five new artificial target greens, perfect for honing those distance shots.
Construction’s set to start next year, and the good news? We’ll keep swinging on most of our 18-hole championship course while the magic happens, aside from a few winter months.
John’s pretty stoked about the project, and honestly, who can blame him? “The work we’re doing here will be nothing short of dramatic,” he says. Coming from him, that means our socks are about to be knocked off.
It’s not just about the upgrades, though. The real cherry on top is how John and our local hero, Jake Ebner (yep, the 2021 Utah Section PGA Superintendent of the Year), work together.
It’s like watching a well-oiled machine, and according to Michael Bickett, our general manager since January, this teamwork is what’s going to make all this possible without a hitch.
So, whether you’re already part of the club, thinking about joining, or just love following golf design, keep your eyes peeled on Alpine Country Club.
With John Fought at the helm, backed by a community that’s all in, we’re not just talking about a few new holes. We’re talking about a transformed golfing haven.
