Hurricane Creek CC Brings Uneekor Simulators to Keep Golf Swing Alive During Course Renovation

Come November 2025, Hurricane Creek Country Club will shut its fairways for nearly two years, but members won’t be left polishing their putters in despair.

The Anna, Texas club has invested in a pair of Uneekor golf simulators, giving golfers a high-tech way to tee it up while Beau Welling renovates the Leon Howard design that first opened in 1968.

The 460 members who call Hurricane Creek home will lose access to their course until fall 2026.

Reciprocal arrangements at other clubs are in place, but the Uneekor setups—installed by The Indoor Golf Shop out of nearby Celina—are already proving to be the most popular draw.

A New Era of Indoor Golf

“We haven’t even had it for a little over two weeks, and there’s been a crazy amount of traction,” said Will Haughey, head PGA Professional at Hurricane Creek Country Club.

What used to be a net, a launch monitor, and a lonely putting green has morphed into two top-of-the-line indoor golf spaces, each running about $30,000.

The Commercial Enclosure package features the Uneekor EYE XO2 launch monitor, SIGPRO golf simulator flooring, a Panasonic projector, and a premium impact screen—the sort of kit that would make even Pebble Beach jealous.

“This is the complete package,” Haughey added. “You’re looking at lessons, fittings, playing courses, contests, social outings, you name it. Pretty much the possibilities are endless… We’re planning on even running season-long or year-long matches, even on the simulator.”

From Augusta to Payne’s Valley—All Indoors

The Uneekor simulators give members the chance to tackle thousands of courses worldwide thanks to a GSPro software subscription. The first year’s access is free; after that, about $250 unlocks digital versions of Augusta, Pebble Beach, Payne’s Valley, and more.

Recently, following a Men’s Golf Association three-man scramble, members staged a closest-to-the-pin contest on the simulators. The hole of choice? The treacherous par-3 12th at Augusta National. For another event, they tried their luck at Payne’s Valley’s jaw-dropping 19th hole.

More Than a Stopgap

Justin Carlson, vice president of sales at The Indoor Golf Shop, sees the addition of simulators as a long-term play for clubs. “Like tennis courts, it’s just another cool amenity, if you think about it,” Carlson said.

And the demand isn’t slowing. Hurricane Creek is already considering additional units, including one for the new teaching centre planned in the renovation.

Other clubs in colder climates are finding simulators invaluable for off-season instruction and keeping members connected when fairways are frozen.

“In all climates it’s a huge opportunity to keep the members coming back to the club,” Carlson explained.

No-Brainer Investment

At Hurricane Creek, reservations are still being scribbled on paper, but the plan is to shift to online booking soon.

Importantly, members won’t pay to use the simulators—another way to keep the clubhouse buzzing while the course lies fallow.

Haughey is confident it’s money well spent. “I would tell them it’s a 100 per cent no-brainer,” he said.

With Uneekor simulators already a hit, Hurricane Creek has found a way to keep its members swinging, socialising, and perhaps even improving, all while their beloved course gets a facelift.
