Rasmus Højgaard remains focused on the task at hand as he bids to end his 2024 Race to Dubai campaign on a high at the DP World Tour Play-Offs, starting with the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship.
The Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship has moved from its traditional place in the calendar at the start of the year and is the first tournament in the new season-ending two-event series.
The top 70 available players from the Race to Dubai Rankings in Partnership with Rolex will compete at Yas Links, with the top 50 then advancing to the DP World Tour Championship next week.
The Dane is currently third on the Race to Dubai Rankings and enters the penultimate event of the season with the opportunity to put pressure on current
Rankings leader Rory McIlroy whom he beat by one stroke at the Amgen Irish Open to win his fifth DP World Tour title in September.
His victory at Royal County Down propelled him up the Rankings and he is just under 2,000 points behind the Northern Irishman – who is seeking a sixth Harry Vardon trophy – but, with 1,500 points awarded to this week’s winner, he is one of 37 players teeing it up at Yas Links still with a mathematical chance of winning the Race to Dubai.
The 23-year-old is also in prime position to join his twin brother Nicolai as a dual member on the PGA TOUR by earning one of the ten cards on offer for the 2025 season, 12 months on from missing out by one place after final round heartbreak in Dubai.
Højgaard will tee it up alongside McIlroy and South African Thriston Lawrence, currently second on the Race to Dubai Rankings, for the first two rounds in Abu Dhabi.
