Dream Golf is gearing up for a game-changing project in Florida’s Panhandle. The Keiser family, already celebrated for their contributions to golf, has officially received the green light for Old Shores, a fresh venture with a Development Order from Washington County, Florida.
The visionary project, developed by Michael and Chris Keiser, promises a public course designed by none other than Tom Doak, the renowned golf architect who’s practically a legend in course design circles.
Old Shores will join the illustrious ranks of other Keiser-owned golf meccas: Bandon Dunes on Oregon’s rugged coastline, Sand Valley amid Wisconsin’s sweeping sand dunes, Rodeo Dunes (currently in the works out in Colorado), and Wild Spring Dunes, a brand-new resort and community in Texas that’s just getting off the ground.
It’s safe to say that the Keisers know how to pick a landscape – and elevate it into something golfers will travel miles to experience.
And as for Old Shores? Michael Keiser himself can hardly contain his excitement. “This land just makes you want to get to the next bend or over the next hill,” he enthuses.
“There is so much variety – it’s hard to believe you could experience so many environments in one place. Every time I visit, I discover a side I had never seen before. This is an amazing and unexpected site.”
His words paint a picture of a course that’s bound to be anything but ordinary, and one that will likely have a few surprises in store for even the most seasoned players.
Securing this Development Order is just the opening chapter for Dream Golf’s latest endeavour in Florida, and the team has big plans for the Old Shores property.
“We are grateful for the reception we received from Washington County, and we are eager to continue the process of presenting our plans for this extraordinary property,” says Keiser.
His confidence in Doak’s design is evident, as he notes, “I’ve walked the routing with Tom Doak numerous times, and I know this will be world-class.”
Given Doak’s reputation and Keiser’s track record, world-class might just be an understatement.
For those who are already mapping out their next golf pilgrimage, Old Shores sits conveniently about 30 miles north of the Panama City airport, easily accessible from the 30A resort communities.
No specific construction timeline is on the books yet, but for a project of this calibre, patience is likely to be rewarded.
