Staff WriterNick Voke is daring to dream of a genuine ‘career highlight’ as he heads into the final day of International Series Macau presented by Wynn, with a real chance to secure a coveted spot in The Open later this year.
The New Zealander—golfing ace, YouTube content creator, and influencer manager—has already caught the eye with a stunning six-under 64, the lowest round of the day, lifting him to T8 at nine under par.
Although he trails joint leaders Patrick Reed and Carlos Ortiz by seven shots, Voke is only four strokes behind the third-place tie between Dominic Foos and Jason Kokrak.
With the top three finishers set to qualify for the fourth major of the season after Macau was named on The Open Qualifying Series, the excitement is palpable.
A thrilled Voke said: “An Open spot would mean the world, I mean growing up, as a kid, you want to watch those four majors.
“The Open, with all the history and the pedigree and everything that comes with it.
I have not played in a major before, it would be a career-high and I have not got quite that far, have not made it to the pinnacle yet.
I have not managed to do it yet and it would be a career highlight and a really emotional week.”
Earlier this season, Nick Voke secured his Asian Tour card with a top-50 finish in 2024, aided by back-to-back seventh-placed finishes on The International Series at both the Black Mountain Championship and International Series Thailand.
The 30-year-old further boosted his confidence by tasting victory at the Webex Players Series Sydney on the Challenger PGA Tour of Australasia.
Reflecting on his recent form, he remarked, “The round was great, I played great today – really solid.
I played really well on the first round as well, I just didn’t hole any putts. Today I holed my fair share so to be on six under, I am feeling good and my game is in the right place. So now I think I will have a nice nap and see how I go tomorrow.”
