England Golf has burst onto the shortlist at the FEVO Sport Industry Awards, named among just six finalists in two categories—Sport Organisation of the Year and the Wellness at Work award.
The 2025 edition of the celebration will land at Evolution London in Battersea on Thursday 15 May, and if there’s one thing England Golf knows how to do, it’s making a grand entrance.
Going toe-to-toe with big names like Liverpool FC, British Cycling, Sail GP, and Bupa is no small feat.
This recognition reflects a standout 2024 for England Golf: every single one of its 1,735 affiliated golf clubs and 60 county unions achieved Respect in Golf status by completing the England Golf Terms of Affiliation.
On top of that, membership figures climbed to 730,000, and the World Handicap System saw a record-smashing deluge of submitted scores—quite the hole-in-one for a year that’s still making headlines.
England Golf CEO Jeremy Tomlinson said: “These nominations at the sport industry’s leading awards ceremony are a testament to all of the work being done across the organisation and by the countless volunteers within the game, working together to help make golf more inclusive and accessible.
“In the last year we have made great strides towards challenging long-held perceptions of the game, helping our clubs and counties to introduce golf to new players from different backgrounds.
The increases we’ve seen in the number of competition scores, general play scores, 18-hole scores and nine-hole scores reflect the progress that has been made.”
Of course, it’s not just membership numbers turning heads. iGolf has opened a fairway for casual golfers to become full-fledged club members, enjoying a 12% bump in sign-ups compared to the same time last year.
More than 13,350 iGolf subscribers have already transitioned into club membership—a promising pipeline fuelling greater diversity and regularity of play.
Meanwhile, iPlay, which just finished its inaugural year, inspired 6,500 eager newbies to jump into the sport, guiding them from their first swing to fairway regulars.
It doesn’t stop there. In a drive to open golf’s doors even wider, 75 new venues—ranging from driving ranges to adventure golf courses—are now affiliated with England Golf.
The affiliation tally started at zero in January 2024 and hasn’t stopped climbing. Alongside these innovations, England Golf is teaming up with Mind and Mental Health First Aid England on a powerful initiative called Fore Your Mind, aiming to bolster mental health support across the golfing community.
Last but not least, a fresh online hub called ‘Golf Fore Her’ has launched to encourage and advise female golfers throughout all stages of life.
From the basics of technique to handling the highs and lows of the game itself, this resource makes it clear that England Golf is swinging for a truly inclusive future.
With two nominations at the FEVO Sport Industry Awards and no shortage of momentum, it’s safe to say England Golf has no plans to stop chasing new milestones anytime soon.
