Must Watch: Dechambeau, Lahiri Challenge Watson, Varner III In Nine-Hole Match Play Event

Bryson-DeChambeau-and-Bubba-Watson

On the heels of a successful first match against Phil Mickelson’s HyFlyers GC in Greenbrier, Bryson DeChambeau’s Crushers GC continued their match play events at Rich Harvest Farms last week, taking on Bubba Watson’s RangeGoats GC.

The match featured DeChambeau and teammate Anirban Lahiri against Watson and Harold Varner III. The nine-hole friendly saw a back-and-forth battle that eventually ended in a tie on the final hole.

The team captains decided to have a chip-off to determine the overall winner, with the RangeGoats coming out on top having hit the closest chip to the pin.

The Crushers teammates would go on to right the ship over the weekend, lifting both the team and individual titles in Chicago.

Additionally, the nine-hole match promoted charitable causes, with each respective team charity receiving donations from the losing team after each hole, in addition to other challenges layered throughout the friendly.

In total, $24,000 was donated with an even split going to each respective charity.

Fox Valley Park District, a Chicago-based charity centered around childhood health and wellness, was the charitable beneficiary for Crushers GC.

While Watson and Harold Varner III played for Varner’s HV3 Foundation, which aims at bringing awareness to the rising cost of entry and access to sports and provides financial assistance to underprivileged youth to help jumpstart their careers.
