Casandra Alexander is poised to cement her dominance at the top of the Investec Order of Merit as she tees it up at this week’s SuperSport Ladies Challenge presented by Sun International.
Already a star on the Sunshine Ladies Tour with her recent win at the Jabra Ladies Classic—and a strong runner-up finish at the Standard Bank Ladies Open—she’s back at the Gary Player Country Club, a venue that seems to bring out the best in her game.
“I absolutely love the Gary Player Country Club. I’ve won there a few times before. I love the layout of the golf course.
I know it like the back of my hand so I’m definitely going in there with a nice positive and confident attitude,” she said ahead of Wednesday’s first round.
“We do know it’s golf and anything can happen but I’m really looking forward to Sun City.
I have missed it in the past because of Ladies European Tour events taking place over that time, so I’m really amped for this year’s event.
Returning from Cape Town—where the past two Sunshine Ladies Tournaments battled dry, gusty conditions—Alexander anticipates a change of pace.
“I’m sure Sun City is pretty wet from all the rain they’ve had so I think this week the course is going to allow nice and aggressive play.
My team and I are really good at adapting to the changes as every week we are in a different country.
So maybe this is an advantage I have over some of the South African players who don’t travel as much,” she added.
The field also boasts rising international talent. Scotland’s Lorna McClymont, who stunned many by finishing second in only her third tournament since turning professional, shared her mindset: “Last week I was good mentally, and I just kept myself in the moment enjoying every shot rather than thinking too much about everything. I’m just really enjoying playing in South Africa.

The golf courses are amazing. The last two we played were in great condition. Everyone here does an amazing job. This week I have no expectations. I’m just going to take it all in and enjoy it.”
Joining the competition are France’s Lucie Malchirand, fresh off her first Sunshine Ladies Tour title at the Standard Bank Ladies Open, and Danielle du Toit, the recent NTT DATA Ladies Pro-Am trophy-winner, alongside South African rookie Kaiyuree Moodley.
With such a talented lineup and an ever-changing set of challenges, the upcoming event promises plenty of excitement.
As Casandra Alexander looks to extend her impressive legacy, every tee shot and putt will be a testament to her skill and adaptability—qualities that truly make the sport of golf as unpredictable and enthralling as ever.
