Can Kruyswijk Make History? South African Star on Verge of First DP World Tour Victory

Jacques Kruyswijk moved into pole position to win his first DP World Tour title as a stunning seven-under-par round of 64 gave him a one-stroke lead at the Magical Kenya Open.

The South African came home in five under par at Muthaiga Golf Club to lead England’s John Parry by one, who added a one over 72 to his opening two rounds of 63-65 as he goes in search of his second win of the 2025 Race to Dubai.

Jacques Kruyswijk: It was super breezy out there today. I played a really good game plan around this golf course.

I wasn’t super aggressive, as you could seen on the last couple. I rolled a couple in but I’ve just been super consistent and my mindset has been really good this whole week. Whatever happens tomorrow is going to happen, but I’m ready.

It would be special to win. I don’t want to get emotional. I’m going to stay focussed tonight and if I can bring this home for South Africa it will be huge for me.

As Parry and playing partner Benjamin Hebert struggled for rhythm in the Kenyan capital, Kruyswijk has no such problems.

He carded birdies at the fourth and eighth to make the turn at two under, before sticking to his conservative gameplan which clearly paid dividends on the back nine.

The 32-year-old birdied the par five tenth, par four 12th and par four 15th as he went in hunt of the leaders, before finishing with back-to-back birdies at the 17th and 18th to claim the 54-hole lead.

It is the first time Kruyswijk has held the lead after three rounds in 139 DP World Tour appearances and will tomorrow bid to become the 47th player from South Africa to win on the DP World Tour.

Parry sits second after his third round 72 on 13 under, with South African Deon Germishuys in fourth on ten under. Frenchman Hebert is then a further shot back in fourth.
