Cabot Citrus Farms Opens in Florida’s Nature Coast: A New Luxury Golf Destination

Cabot Citrus Farms has officially opened its gates, unveiling a new era of luxury golf, real estate, and adventure on Florida’s Nature Coast.

Set across 1,200 acres of rolling terrain draped with moss-covered oaks and sand pines, this is the first U.S. destination from The Cabot Collection, famed for its world-class resorts and residential golf properties.

“The former World Woods Golf Club always stood out to me for its enchanting setting and dramatic elevation changes unlike anything I’d ever seen across the state of Florida,” said Ben Cowan-Dewar, CEO and co-founder of Cabot.

“It has been an honour to reimagine this iconic site alongside our amazing team.

We drew inspiration from the property’s rich history and natural beauty to create a destination that will bring people together through incredible golf experiences, outdoor adventures and a strong sense of community.”

Four Courses, Infinite Thrills

Karoo is an 18-hole “adventure golf” layout sculpted by architect Kyle Franz. Its impressively wide Bermuda fairways, far-reaching greens, and sinuous contours offer golfers the freedom to experiment with daring shots.

Named for the loud rolling call—“karoo”—of its resident Sandhill Cranes, this course recently graced the cover of GOLF Magazine and landed at No. 32 in its “Top 100 Courses You Can Play in the U.S.” list.

Roost, the second 18-hole course, whisks golfers back to Old Florida charm. Sandy scrublands, rolling meadows, and 50-foot elevation changes showcase the region’s raw beauty.

Co-designed by Mike Nuzzo, Kyle Franz, and Ran Morrissett, with a cameo from acclaimed architect Rod Whitman for the greens, Roost is dotted with century-old live oaks and even a sinkhole for extra visual drama. True to its name, you might spot wild turkeys roosting beneath the shade of these magnificent trees.

For golfers short on time or looking for a quick thrill, The Squeeze is a 10-hole treasure trove of half-par holes, par 3s, par 4s, and par 5s—each with a unique personality.

Designed by Mike Nuzzo, this fun-filled layout deftly balances whimsical elements with calculated challenges.

Nearby, The Wedge complements it all with an 11-hole par-3 experience, offering late-night enjoyment thanks to low-profile lighting and on-course speakers.

Real Estate and Stylish Accommodations

Beyond the fairways, Cabot Citrus Farms beckons homeowners and guests with a collection of timeless residences.

The two- and four-bedroom Cottages and the two-story Fairway Homes line the 10th hole of Roost, capturing the lively spirit of Florida living through open-air spaces, private pools, and generous natural light.

Prices for ownership start at $1.8 million for Cottages and $3.7 million for Fairway Homes.

Resort visitors can opt for nightly stays from $1,250 through June 2025, immersing themselves in laid-back luxury.

Amenities and Adventures

The property’s communal heart includes comfort stations filled with goodies, a golf pro shop, and a cosy social spot known as The Porch, where you can unwind with drinks, snacks, and a few friendly games.

At The Grange Hall, a versatile clubhouse and gathering hub, you’ll find indoor and outdoor dining, a coffee shop, a lively bar, and a fire pit lounge beneath the stars.

Still on the horizon are tennis, pickleball, padel, and multiple pool areas for adults and families alike.

A newly launched sporting club invites you to try axe throwing, archery, Five Stand shooting, and catch-and-release fishing—with friendly guides on hand to teach you the ropes.

Outdoor lovers will also appreciate the neighbouring Withlacoochee State Forest, where hiking, biking, and nature trails abound, while Crystal River’s spring-fed waters are ideal for canoeing, kayaking, and paddleboarding.

If you’re seeking world-class fishing, the Gulf of Mexico is just a short drive away.

Commitment to Sustainability

Sustainability forms the bedrock of Cabot’s philosophy. Every golf course and the surrounding built environment at Cabot Citrus Farms has earned enrollment in Audubon International’s Platinum Signature Sanctuary program.

This means the entire property—from fairways and lodging to dining areas—falls under a single certification that underscores a steadfast commitment to preserving Florida’s natural treasures.

Located about 50 minutes north of Tampa and 80 minutes west of Orlando, this fresh addition to The Cabot Collection pairs classic Southern charm with easy access to city life.
