Bryson Dechambeau’s Thrilling Win At Pinehurst Captivates The Sports World

The golf world is buzzing as LIV Golf League star Bryson DeChambeau captured a thrilling victory at the 124th U.S. Open Championship.

Held at the iconic Pinehurst Resort & Country Club’s Course No. 2, DeChambeau’s skill and strategic play were fully displayed, culminating in a narrow 1-stroke win.

This marks his first major triumph since his 2020 U.S. Open Championship win at Winged Foot Golf Club in Mamaroneck, New York, bringing his 72-hole total to a remarkable 6-under 274.

DeChambeau’s Historic Achievement

DeChambeau’s victory is particularly noteworthy as he becomes the first LIV Golf League player to hoist the U.S. Open Championship Trophy since joining the league.

He also follows in the footsteps of Brooks Koepka, who secured a major victory at last year’s PGA Championship at Oak Hill Country Club in Rochester, New York. DeChambeau’s win at Pinehurst adds another major championship to his resume, making him one of seven LIV Golf players who have won multiple major championships.

This elite group includes legends like Phil Mickelson (6), Koepka (5), Dustin Johnson (2), Martin Kaymer (2), Jon Rahm (2), and Bubba Watson (2). Impressively, more than a quarter of the LIV Golf League’s global field are major champions, boasting a combined 28 major victories among them. Notably, six players from the league have clinched a U.S. Open Championship.

A Victory for the Ages

“I am incredibly grateful and honoured to win my second U.S. Open Championship at such an iconic venue,” said DeChambeau, captain of Crushers GC.

“Pinehurst has a rich history in the golfing world, and to have my name etched in its legacy is truly humbling.”

“This win is not just for me, but for everyone who has continued to believe in me along the way.”

DeChambeau’s remarkable performance earned high praise from LIV Golf Commissioner and CEO Greg Norman.

“Bryson’s passion for the game and drive for success is unparalleled,” said Norman.

“His determination to consistently perform at the highest level is evident in every aspect of his game, including his tenacious work ethic.”

“Time and time again, he continues to demonstrate an unyielding will to win, rising to the challenge when it matters most.”

“He is truly one of golf’s superstars who is connecting with fans around the globe – and now he is a two-time U.S. Open Champion. Congratulations, Bryson! This victory was a joy to watch.”

DeChambeau’s Stellar Season

Additionally, he has claimed two LIV Golf individual titles, including a record-tying 58 on the final day at LIV Golf Greenbrier last August and a subsequent victory at LIV Golf Chicago.

His outstanding contributions were crucial in helping the Crushers secure the 2023 Team Championship title alongside teammates Paul Casey, Charles Howell III, and Anirban Lahiri.

The team currently leads the 2024 standings, thanks to victories at LIV Golf Jeddah and LIV Golf Hong Kong.
