Fans are buzzing, and let’s be honest, who wouldn’t want a front-row seat to watch the stars of tomorrow battle it out?
Taking place from December 12-14 at the Riyadh Golf Club, this tournament is more than just a stroll around the greens. It’s an all-out grind with four rounds of stroke play, culminating in a gruelling 36-hole showdown on the final day.
For those gunning for a spot in the LIV Golf League or a full exemption into the 2025 International Series, there’s no room for error. You’ve got to bring your best game, and then some.
Now, here’s the kicker: the top finisher gets the golden ticket—a spot in the 2025 LIV Golf League, with the top 10 finishers (including ties) walking away with full exemption into all 2025 International Series events.
And if the stakes weren’t high enough, there’s a $1.5 million prize purse on the line. A cool $200,000 goes straight to the winner. Not too shabby, right?
“Those who have competed in the LIV Golf League consistently share similar feedback: the energy, camaraderie, and global competition have created a once-in-a-lifetime experience for players to pursue their dreams at the highest level,” said LIV Golf Commissioner and CEO Greg Norman.
“LIV Golf Promotions delivers another pathway for up-and-coming players and top competitors across the globe to experience a life-changing season with LIV, and we’re eager to see who steps up this year in Riyadh.” It’s safe to say, the opportunity here is life-changing—literally.
As for who’s eligible? LIV Golf Promotions isn’t just for the Pros though, Elite amateurs from every corner of the globe are welcome, along with those who’ve been relegated from the LIV Golf League.
Even players who finished in the Open Zone (that’s 25th-48th in the standings) and don’t have a team for 2025 get another shot at redemption.
The format is straightforward but brutal. Thursday kicks things off with everyone hitting the course, and only the top 20 finishers (plus ties) make it to Friday’s second round.
The best part? Each round starts fresh, so every day feels like a whole new fight for survival.
The final 36-hole marathon on Saturday will see one champion emerge, walking away with not just a hefty check, but also that coveted spot in the LIV Golf League.
For those of you wondering who’s got the inside track, keep an eye on American John Catlin. He’s no stranger to the big stage, having played six LIV Golf events as a reserve this past season.
Currently, he’s leading the International Series rankings, thanks to a win in Macau and a couple of runner-up finishes.
His story is a testament to the quality of play in the International Series, and he’s one of the favourites to lock up a spot in the League.
“John’s success in a number of LIV Golf events as a reserve this season is proof of the quality of play that we see each week on The International Series,” said Head of The International Series Rahul Singh.
“As we crown a 2024 International Series champion later this fall and look to the highly anticipated LIV Golf Promotions, one deserving player will have the chance to punch their life-changing ticket to the LIV Golf League.”
Of course, we can’t forget the teams in the LIV Golf League. Just because someone wins LIV Golf Promotions doesn’t mean they’re automatically slotted into a team for 2025.
Free agency is a wild ride, and teams are always looking to shake things up in the offseason.
So while winning Promotions guarantees a spot in the league, landing on a team is a whole different ball game.
The event will be broadcast live and on-demand via LIV Golf Plus, YouTube, and various broadcast partners.
You won’t want to miss a single swing, especially with so much on the line. Mark your calendars: coverage starts Thursday and Friday from 12:00 – 4:00 p.m., with Saturday’s finale running from 12:30 – 5:00 p.m., local time.
So, whether you’re a player itching to make your mark or a fan eager to see who’s going to join the ranks of the LIV Golf elite, all eyes will be on Riyadh this December.
The journey to the 2025 season begins here.
