The Aramco Team Series presented by PIF is set to make its debut in South Korea, with the Ladies European Tour (LET) bringing its renowned competition to Seoul for the second leg of the five-part global event series.
From May 10-12, 36 teams, each comprising three professionals and one amateur, will compete for the team title, while the professionals will vie for the individual title on the final day.
Golf Saudi’s collaboration with KOLON Group, the Official Host Partner, underpins this debut event. KOLON Group’s experience with premier golf tournaments, such as the Kolon Korea Open, is expected to bring a world-class experience to both players and spectators.
South Korea’s prominence in women’s golf is well-established, with the nation having won eight of the last 15 U.S. Women’s Open titles and 15 of the current top 50 positions in the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings.
Among the notable players competing in Seoul is World No. 9 and Amundi Evian Championship winner, Hyo-Joo Kim, who is expected to draw significant support from the home crowd.
She aims to secure her first Aramco Team Series presented by PIF title on her series debut.
Hyo-Joo Kim remarked, “I’ve heard from those on Tour how special Aramco Team Series events are and how they are set up like a Major.
As soon as I heard the series was heading to Korea for the first time, there was no doubt that I would be competing.
The unique format of the event excites me; I’ve never played in a tournament quite like it. I’m looking forward to competing with some of my fellow LPGA players here on Korean soil and exciting the passionate crowds.”
Joining Kim in the field is LPGA star Danielle Kang, who is looking for her first win since 2022.
Kang has a deep connection with South Korea due to her Korean heritage. She said, “I’m thrilled to be participating in the Aramco Team Series in Korea”.
“I absolutely love the team aspect of this series and can’t wait to play alongside a great field of golfers from both the LPGA and LET”.
“I am very thankful for this opportunity and excited to compete in Korea. See you all there.”
The event will take place at the New Korea Country Club, which is opening its doors to the public for the first time in 38 years.
Located just 30 minutes from Seoul, the club features breathtaking views, beautiful cherry blossom trees, and undulating fairways.
The $1M prize fund adds to the allure of the tournament, providing a unique experience for both players and fans.
Beyond the tournament, the Aramco Team Series aims to empower women and girls in golf through social, economic, and environmental initiatives that focus on inclusivity and accessibility, exemplified by its #SEETheImpact campaign.
Fans can enjoy an array of attractions at the fan zone, including virtual reality golf, a variety of activities for all ages, and a selection of food and beverages.
