Legends Return: ISPS HANDA Senior Open 2025 Brings Major Names to Sunningdale

Sunningdale is about to get a heavy dose of golfing greatness, as the ISPS HANDA Senior Open tees off from July 24–27, 2025.

The only Senior Major Championship in Europe is returning to one of the sport’s most storied venues—and it’s bringing with it a stellar cast of characters, a mighty $2.85 million prize purse, and a mission far bigger than birdies and bogeys.

The ISPS HANDA Senior Open is now officially backed by its new title partner, the Japan-based charitable powerhouse founded by Dr. Haruhisa Handa.

ISPS HANDA has long championed the belief that sport has the power to unite and uplift—and now, they’re putting that philosophy front and centre at Europe’s most prestigious senior golfing event.

“We are delighted to become the title partner of this iconic championship—one of the great tournaments in global golf,” said Dr. Handa. “Golf transcends boundaries, fosters inclusion, and empowers people of all backgrounds and abilities.”

Backed by The R&A and the European Tour group, the 38th edition of the championship returns to Sunningdale’s Old Course, a classic stage worthy of its legendary cast.

Confirmed to play are defending champion K.J. Choi, 12-time Senior Major winner Bernhard Langer, and Pádraig Harrington, who brings three Majors and a heap of Irish tenacity to the party.

Expect to see a bevvy of Ryder Cup icons and Major winners from both the PGA TOUR and DP World Tour.

And it won’t just be about trophies. This year’s ISPS HANDA Senior Open will also feature a Birdie Challenge aimed at raising at least $50,000 to help introduce golf to underprivileged children in Battambang, Cambodia—proof that this isn’t just another corporate handshake, but a heartfelt commitment to global good.

Mark Darbon, Chief Executive of The R&A, acknowledged the deep roots of the partnership. “ISPS HANDA has been a passionate supporter of professional and amateur golf for a number of years now,” he said. “We are grateful they’ve decided to become the new title sponsor of The Senior Open.”

Guy Kinnings, CEO of the European Tour group, added: “ISPS HANDA provides outstanding support for the game of golf at every level. We’re thrilled they’re deepening their involvement by supporting this championship.”

Since its inception in 1987, The Senior Open has produced some of the most memorable moments in senior golf.

Sunningdale itself has hosted three times before—2009, 2015, and 2021—with names like Loren Roberts, Marco Dawson, and Stephen Dodd carving their names into history.

Last year, South Korea’s K.J. Choi became the first player from his country to win a Senior Major, with a two-shot triumph at Carnoustie.

The 2025 edition will be broadcast across a global network, including Sky Sports in the UK, Golf Channel and NBC in the US, and Japan’s Jupiter Golf Network—ensuring fans around the world get front-row access to every fist pump and fairway find.

Tickets for the ISPS HANDA Senior Open are on sale now, and with a field boasting some of the greatest to ever grip a club, they’re likely to vanish faster than a tap-in from Harrington.

Sunningdale’s calling. The legends are answering.
