115th Investec South African Open 2026 Returns to Historic Stellenbosch Golf Club

The 115th Investec South African Open is rolling into Stellenbosch Golf Club in February 2026, and let’s be honest—this place isn’t just old, it’s got more history than your grandfather’s whiskey cabinet.

Tucked away in the heart of the Cape Winelands, it’s the kind of course that looks like a postcard but plays like a well-written plot twist.

Every fairway has a story, every green has a secret, and somewhere out there, a bunker is still holding a grudge from 1999.

It’s also a homecoming of sorts. The last time Stellenbosch hosted this championship, a young David Frost—who once caddied here for his father—walked away with the trophy in 1999.

Now, 26 years later, the Open is back, and you can bet the old course has a few more stories left to tell.

There’s a tangible excitement in the air as the championship returns to its roots, offering both seasoned fans and new enthusiasts a chance to experience a slice of South Africa’s rich golfing tapestry.

In a nod to tradition and progress alike, Peta Dixon, Investec Head of Sponsorships, explained: “Investec believes strongly that the Investec South African Open should travel around the country as a showcase of South African professional golf, and to allow the majority of South Africans to see and be inspired by this Out of the Ordinary championship which has such a proud history.”

Reflecting on a legacy that stretches back decades, she continued: “After being founded in 1974, one of Investec’s first regional offices opened in Cape Town in 1980, so we have a long and proud history in the Western Cape.

We now have offices in Cape Town, Stellenbosch, Paarl, Tyger Valley, Knysna and George.

We look forward to bringing the Investec South African Open back to Stellenbosch Golf Club for the first time in 26 years.”

Chris van der Merwe, General Manager of Stellenbosch Golf Club, added his enthusiasm for the return of this storied event: “We are incredibly honoured to have been selected as the host venue for the 2026 Investec South African Open and look forward to showcasing this prestigious championship as well as the beauty of Stellenbosch and the Cape Winelands to a global audience.

As one of the oldest golf clubs in the Cape, and indeed in South Africa, Stellenbosch Golf Club has hosted some major professional and amateur tournaments over the years and produced some of South Africa’s finest professionals such as Justin Harding, Oliver Bekker, Keenan Davidse, JJ Senekal and Hennie O’Kennedy.

We’re looking forward to what will be a wonderful next edition in the proud history of this great championship.”

Co-sanctioned by the Sunshine Tour and DP World Tour, the tournament forms an integral part of the DP World Tour’s International Swing.

As the countdown to February 2026 begins, both the course and its fans eagerly anticipate another round of top-tier competition, remarkable scenery, and the enduring spirit of South African golf.
