Brace yourself, folks, because the International Series in India is about to tee off in grand fashion at the storied DLF Golf and Country Club in Gurugram, just a short drive from Delhi.
This much-anticipated event marks the first of ten elevated stops on this year’s Asian Tour calendar, and the LIV Golf-backed show is making its debut on the subcontinent.
If you’ve been longing for a jolt of golfing excitement to kick-start your season, this might just be it.
Two of last season’s biggest headliners can’t wait to see if the magic continues here.
First up is Chile’s own Joaquin Niemann, captain of Torque GC in the LIV Golf League.
He’s positively raring to go, having closed out 2024 in dramatic style by clinching The International Series Rankings crown with a nail-biting playoff win at the PIF Saudi International.
The 26-year-old also racked up a runner-up finish to Jon Rahm in the LIV Golf League’s season-long individual race, alongside two victories—plus a handful of other top-five performances.
Niemann points to last year’s International Series Oman as the boost that lit his fuse, and he’s banking on India to provide another early-season spark.
“For me, The International Series was huge last year. It really helped me to get prepared for my season at the beginning of the year, as we played Oman which was a really amazing course with a great field.
“To have that competition before our (LIV Golf) season is really important. And it is going to be the same thing here in India this season.
I think most of the players are going, and it is going to be a tough and tricky golf course. So it is going to be good to get in the zone.”
American standout John Catlin is also eager to keep the momentum going. After landing the Asian Tour Order of Merit thanks to a season packed with back-to-back victories—plus that unforgettable 59—Catlin is feeling primed for another banner year.
He even earned a spot as a LIV alternate following his triumph at International Series Macau, tacked on a few runner-up finishes in Morocco and Thailand, and impressed mightily with a 16th-place showing at The Open at Royal Troon.
These days, Catlin is all about fine-tuning, not overhauling. “It’s really about getting comfortable under tournament pressure again,” he noted. “I’m looking forward to getting out there and playing.
“Obviously you have to get back playing and be comfortable under tournament nerves, but as far as my game is concerned, I feel it is in great shape and I’m looking forward to getting back out there and winning more tournaments.”
