When it comes to professional golf, FootJoy isn’t just leading the pack—it’s practically in a league of its own.
Dominating both the DP World Tour and Ladies European Tour, FootJoy was the choice of 59% of players on the DP World Tour in 2024, outpacing every other brand combined.
And if that wasn’t enough, their shoes stepped into the winner’s circle 17 times last year, cementing their reputation as the go-to for champions.
The Premiere Series: A Star on the Fairways
FootJoy’s flagship model, the Premiere Series, proved to be the top choice for elite players, with notable wins from Matteo Manassero at the Jonsson Workwear Open, Niklas Norgaard at the BetFred British Masters, and Billy Horschel’s standout performance at the BMW PGA Championship.
Reflecting on his success, Horschel shared: “There are a couple of things I always look for when it comes to footwear,” said Horschel. “Firstly, I want to have a shoe that not only looks good but also matches with my clothes and personality, which is where FootJoy do such a great job of providing an array of options.
“I then like to focus on the performance side of the golf shoe, where once again FootJoy have always done a tremendous job of this and continue to get better.”
HyperFlex and Pro/SLX: Power Meets Precision
FootJoy’s HyperFlex franchise shined with a victory for Byeong Hun An at the Genesis Championship and a major triumph at the U.S. Open at Pinehurst No. 2. Equally impressive was the Pro/SLX, which became an instant favourite after its early-2024 debut.
Laurie Canter, the European Open champion, praised the shoe’s stability: “It is the stability for me,” said Canter. “The shoe’s ability to help me hold the ground just that bit longer in my left foot is so important as it stops my left leg from spinning out, meaning my hands don’t take over and I am able to generate all that power through the ground.”
“It is amazing when in the past I have hit golf balls in standard trainers, my whole swing feels completely different. You can only compare it to playing barefoot, where you properly get a sense of how a performance golf shoe can really help you out.”
A Legacy in Golf Gloves
FootJoy’s success extended beyond footwear. The brand’s StaSof glove, a tour staple since 1983, continued its reign as the most-played glove on the DP World Tour, thanks to its durability and unmatched feel.
Ladies European Tour: A Winning Partnership
FootJoy also dominated the Ladies European Tour (LET), with 57% of players choosing the brand and 12 victories across the season.
The newly launched FJ Performa earned wins for Marta Martin at the Czech Ladies Open and Morgane Metraux at the Jabra Ladies Open.
Alice Hewson, another FootJoy ambassador, discovered how a proper fitting elevated her game: “I thought I had an understanding of my shoe size until my FJ shoe fitting, where I found out that I should have been wearing a whole shoe size smaller,” said Hewson.
“Since I have been wearing a properly fitted pair of performance golf shoes, I have noticed a lot more support in my footwear, less creasing in the upper part of the shoe and my feet as a whole feel a lot less fatigued at the end of a round.”
The Future of FootJoy
With a combined 29 victories across the DP World and Ladies European Tours, FootJoy continues to innovate with products that deliver on both style and performance.
Ryan Hunt, Leadership Promotion Manager, highlighted the brand’s commitment: “We were delighted once again to see that the majority of players both on the DP World and Ladies European Tours opted to place their trust in FootJoy when it comes to performance footwear and gloves.
“A lot of our success is down to the FJ Product teams who are allowing us to present to players exciting new footwear such as Pro/SLX and FJ Performa this year, both of which have earned wins on the world’s elite stage.
“Also having such a wide range of options within our footwear catalogue and being one of the only brands to offer multiple width options and half sizes, allows us as a team to cater for every single player’s needs and fit them into a product that is going to help them perform on the golf course.
“This is demonstrated with a combined 29 victories across both Tours this season and seven of our shoe franchises earning victories, really showcasing our strength across our footwear range.
“We have already got off to a great start to the new season with Elvis Smylie (Premiere Series) and Johannes Veerman (Pro/SLX) securing early wins in Australia and South Africa respectively, and as we head into 2025, we look forward to continuing to provide the best product and service possible to players across the worldwide tours.”
So looking ahead to 2025, FootJoy is poised for another standout year!
