Matthew Jordan and Romain Langasque: The Newest Additions to Great Britain & Ireland and Continental Europe Teams

With the match play showdown at Abu Dhabi Golf Resort fast approaching, the final players for Great Britain & Ireland and Continental Europe’s Team Cup sides have been confirmed.

European Ryder Cup Captain Luke Donald, alongside Team Cup Playing Captains Justin Rose and Francesco Molinari, has handpicked Matthew Jordan and Romain Langasque to complete the ten-man squads set to compete from January 10-12, 2025.

Matthew Jordan: The Rising English Star

Matthew Jordan blasted onto the DP World Tour stage at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship back in 2018 and hasn’t looked back since.

Climbing the ranks with the eagerness of a youngster at his first fair, he snagged his tour card from the Challenge Tour in 2019.

Fast forward to 2024, and Matthew Jordan has been making waves, clocking up six top-ten finishes.

The real highlight? A tied tenth at the iconic 152nd Open Championship at Royal Troon—a performance that turned heads and had everyone buzzing with excitement.

Just last week, the lad was at it again, snagging a tie for second at the Nedbank Golf Challenge.

He’s kicked off the new Race to Dubai season like he’s got rockets strapped to his golf shoes!

Jordan has also shown his mettle in team competitions, having represented Great Britain & Ireland in the 2017 Walker Cup and Europe in the 2018 Bonallack Trophy.

Justin Rose said, “Matthew has really impressed me over the last couple of years, so I’m very excited to welcome him to the Great Britain & Ireland side.

He’s had back-to-back top ten finishes at The Open Championship in the last two years which shows he can perform under pressure, and having also achieved a great deal in team competitions as an amateur, he’s a great addition to the team.”

Romain Langasque: A Continental Contender

Romain Langasque, a standout amateur winner of the 2015 Amateur Championship at Carnoustie, turned pro after competing in the 2016 Masters Tournament.

He secured his DP World Tour card in 2017 and clinched his first tour win at the ISPS HANDA Wales Open in 2020.

Langasque ended the 2024 season 22nd in the Race to Dubai Rankings, capped by a second-place finish at last week’s Nedbank Golf Challenge.

Francesco Molinari praised Langasque’s consistent performance, saying, “Romain was an outstanding amateur and continues to improve year-on-year as a professional.

His last two seasons have been his best to date on the DP World Tour, and he also knows what it takes to win, so it will be very interesting to see how he adapts to being part of the team next month.”
