With tension crackling in the air and opportunity ripe for the taking, LIV Golf Promotions is gearing up to host a fiercely determined lineup of players eager to make their mark on the global stage.
From December 12-14 at Riyadh Golf Club, this second annual showdown isn’t just a tournament—it’s a golden ticket to the 2025 LIV Golf League and The International Series.
No one denies the stakes: with a spot in the LIV Golf League on the line, plus full exemptions for a host of top finishers, this tournament commands serious attention.
On Thursday, December 12, the action swings into gear. Across three intense days and four pressure-cooker rounds, 93 competitors—rising talents and seasoned pros—will test their mettle in the unforgiving crucible of LIV Golf Promotions. These aren’t casual entrants.
We’re talking about former Ryder Cup and Walker Cup participants, standout amateurs, and decorated performers from the PGA Tour, DP World Tour, Asian Tour, Korn Ferry Tour, and Sunshine Tour.
They arrive with accomplishments etched onto their resumes, all aiming to claim their share of professional momentum.
This format delivers equal parts drama and opportunity. The top finisher at LIV Golf Promotions seizes a spot in the LIV Golf League for 2025, while the top 10 finishers (including ties) earn full exemptions into all International Series events for that season.
It’s a structure built around merit and open competition. As LIV Golf Commissioner and CEO Greg Norman puts it: “Building on our first and highly successful LIV Golf Promotions in 2023, the interest has only increased this year as one deserving player will earn the chance to compete in the LIV Golf League,”
“The strong interest underscores the significance of creating more opportunities in our global sport to ensure current and rising stars of the game can build their careers and compete at the highest level.”
The tournament’s design is straightforward yet merciless. On Day 1, 64 hopefuls (Category A) tee off on December 12, with only the top 20 and ties navigating the cut line to advance.
On Day 2, those survivors join Category B players who automatically qualified into the second round.
There’s no resting on past glories, as scores reset and competitors scrap anew for the top 20 spots that will propel them into the final round.
Day 3 turns the screws even tighter: a 36-hole marathon on December 14 will determine the ultimate champion. By sundown, someone will pocket $200,000 and find a door to the 2025 LIV Golf League opened wide. Top 10 finishers, including ties, head into the International Series with full exemption, while a total prize purse of US $1.5 million underscores just how much is at stake.
This year’s field skews young, with an average age under 30 and names that reflect tomorrow’s top-tier potential. Santiago De La Fuente enters after capturing the 2024 Latin America Amateur Championship.
Max Kennedy, the 2024 European Amateur runner-up, and Luis Masaveu, a top-20 ranked amateur-turned-professional, round out the fresh-faced talent. And then there’s Fred Biondi, the 2023 NCAA Division I Men’s Golf Individual Champion who stood second only to Ludvig Aberg in the PGATU rankings.
These individuals arrive determined, “Playing last year as an amateur was an incredible experience—competing for a spot to play against the best really motivated me and gave me a taste of what’s possible,” said Masaveu.
“This year, coming back as a professional is an even bigger opportunity. I’m grateful for the chance to prove myself and build on everything I learned last year.”
LIV Golf Promotions also features players who’ve tasted success at high levels: 2016 Ryder Cup representative Chris Wood, plus names like Tom Lewis, Adri Arnaus, and Martin Trainer—each boasting noteworthy credentials on the DP World Tour and PGA Tour.
“I’m really excited to play in the LIV Golf Promotions tournament. The golfing world is full of so many opportunities at the moment and this is one of the biggest,” said Wood.
“I’m at a place in my career where I am exploring different opportunities, and I am so grateful to have these along with an open mind as to where it might take me.”
Meanwhile, former LIV Golf standouts Hudson Swafford (2024 Wild Card), Branden Grace, Kalle Samooja, Scott Vincent, and Kieran Vincent all eye redemption and a chance to regain status in the 2025 season. Reserve contenders like John Caitlin, who contributed to Smash GC’s team title at LIV Golf Greenbrier, and Ben Campbell will also chase a more permanent foothold in the League.
For global viewers, access is just a tap away. LIV Golf Promotions will stream live and on-demand via LIV Golf Plus, the LIV Golf YouTube channel, and broadcast partners worldwide.
Coverage runs Thursday and Friday from 12:00–4:00 p.m. local time, and Saturday from 12:30–5:00 p.m. For more details, fans can visit LIVGolf.com/promotions.
This event is more than just another tournament; it’s a proving ground that could alter careers and shake up the professional landscape.
