Challenge Tour Schedule 2025: What to Expect on the Road to Mallorca

The Challenge Tour has rolled out its 2025 Road to Mallorca schedule, and let me tell you, it’s a big one.

We’re talking a record-smashing €9,000,000 prize fund—yes, you read that right. With 29 tournaments stretching across three continents and 18 countries, this lineup isn’t just global; it’s practically intergalactic in its ambition.

It’s all about giving the next wave of golfing talent a shot at the big leagues, and they’ve pulled out all the stops to make it happen.

Global Tee-Off in South Africa

For the fifth consecutive year, the Challenge Tour kicks off in South Africa with the SDC Open at the end of January.

This event, co-sanctioned with the Sunshine Tour, sets the tone for a season packed with competitive action.

Historic Return to India

In March, the Tour heads to India for back-to-back events: the Kolkata Challenge at the historic Royal Calcutta Golf Club, the oldest golf club in India and the first outside Great Britain, and the Delhi Challenge at Classic Golf & Country Club. These events underline the Challenge Tour’s expanding global footprint.

Middle Eastern Swing

April sees the Road to Mallorca land in the UAE with the UAE Challenge debuting at Al Zorah Golf Club in Ajman, followed by the Abu Dhabi Challenge.

Both tournaments are part of a long-term partnership with the Emirates Golf Federation, reflecting the region’s growing influence in global golf.

European Marathon

May signals the start of a European stretch with the Challenge de España, kicking off a remarkable sequence of 18 tournaments in 20 weeks across 14 countries. Highlights include:

Italian Challenge Open at Golf Nazionale, a former Junior Ryder Cup venue.
Swiss Challenge at Golf Sempachersee, a familiar favourite returning to the calendar.

New venues like Bogense Golf Club in Denmark, Upsala Golf Club in Sweden for the Indoor Golf Group Challenge, and Killeen Castle for the Irish Challenge.

Back to China

In October, the Road to Mallorca makes a significant stop in China with the Hainan Open and the Hangzhou Open, offering players crucial opportunities to qualify for the prestigious Rolex Challenge Tour Grand Final supported by The R&A.

Grand Finale in Mallorca

The season culminates in Mallorca from October 30 to November 2. The Rolex Challenge Tour Grand Final will see the top 45 players vying for one of 20 coveted DP World Tour cards, a pathway to career-changing opportunities, including the DP World Tour’s Earnings Assurance Programme guaranteeing minimum earnings of $150,000 for the 2026 season.

Building Future Stars

Jamie Hodges, Challenge Tour Director, emphasized the Tour’s role in shaping golf’s future stars: “I am incredibly proud to unveil our 2025 Road to Mallorca schedule, which boasts the biggest total prize fund since the Challenge Tour’s inception in 1989.

“The Challenge Tour continues to go from strength to strength and our 2025 schedule celebrates the truly global nature of the Tour and showcases the diversity of our membership and the places and cultures we visit.

“I would like to thank all our promoters, national Federations, tournament sponsors and partner Tours for their commitment to the Challenge Tour and for helping us to make this global schedule possible.

“We are also very grateful for the commitment of Rolex, The R&A, and DP World through their title partnership of the DP World Tour, all of which has helped us raise prize funds and increase playing opportunities for our members.

“The Challenge Tour continues to produce the next generation of golfing talent, and we were delighted with the success of our graduates on the 2024 Race to Dubai. We are looking forward to nurturing the stars of the future once again in 2025.”

Last season’s graduates proved the program isn’t just working—it’s thriving. Sixteen out of 21 held onto their DP World Tour cards, a solid testament to the talent being nurtured.

And then there were the standouts: Matteo Manassero and Jesper Svensson didn’t just make waves—they made history, snagging PGA TOUR memberships to boot. It’s the kind of success that turns potential into headlines.
