Kipp Popert and Steven Alderson closed out their seasons in style, both claiming wins at the first-ever G4D Tour Series Finale in Dubai.
Hosted at the iconic Earth course of Jumeirah Golf Estates, this two-day showdown wasn’t just any tournament; it’s part of a refreshing revamp to position the G4D Tour as the most inclusive competition in the golf world.
With a gross event and a net event on the schedule, the stage was set for a climactic season finale.
Popert, reigning at the top of the World Ranking for Golfers with Disability (WR4GD), brought his A-game to the final round.
Holding a narrow one-shot lead over Australia’s Lachlan Wood, he delivered a flawless closing five-under 67 to finish nine under par, securing a commanding five-shot win.
This marks Popert’s 13th G4D Tour title, his fourth of the year, and his first in Dubai—a landmark victory that had him beaming.
“I’m chuffed,” Popert shared, adding, “I haven’t won this one yet. So, it was one I was really wanting and knew I was playing well coming in.
I think my focus is when I get a lead; to be honest, I just like winning. But I also want to showcase how good we are and shoot the lowest score I can.”
His sizzling front-nine 32 set the tone, with three birdies between the 11th and 15th holes keeping him comfortably ahead.
Though he wrapped up with a bogey-bogey finish, the title was already firmly in his grasp.
The Australian duo of Wood and Wayne Perske rounded out the top three in the gross event, competing alongside five others.
Meanwhile, Alderson, competing with a three handicap, celebrated his own back-to-back G4D Tour win in the net competition after a standout victory in Spain just last month.
Shooting a solid 77 on Wednesday, the 44-year-old fended off South Africa’s Robin Singh by five shots, mixing three birdies with a few challenging bogeys. His birdie on the par-five 18th was the perfect capstone to his season.
Reflecting on his journey, Alderson said, “It’s an amazing feeling. It’s just great to have invitations to play in these tournaments. You don’t get invited all the time, so you have got to take your chance.”
Alderson credited his caddie, Trent, for working “twice as hard as we did in Spain because of the hot weather and the golf course is really, really tough.”
