Thailand isn’t just a playground for sun seekers anymore—it’s now a battleground for some of the fiercest competitors in golf, thanks to The International Series.
As the autumn leaves begin to fall elsewhere, golf’s big guns are heading to the warm embrace of Thailand, where back-to-back tournaments promise to turn up the heat on the Asian Tour calendar.
First on the tee is Peter Uihlein, recent champion of the International Series England. The RangeGoats GC star is set to swing his clubs at the Black Mountain Championship from October 17 to 20.
He won’t be alone; joining him will be a cast of notable names like Kieran Vincent of Legion XIII, Scott Vincent from Iron Heads GC, and the spirited Jinichiro Kozuma. But that’s just for starters.
The following week, from October 24 to 27, the action shifts to the Thai Country Club in Bangkok.
Here, the youthful vigour of Eugenio Chacarra of Fireballs GC, last year’s sensation at the LIV Golf Bangkok and a winner at the St Andrews Bay Championship will be on full display.
The field also welcomes the solid South African Branden Grace of Stinger GC, Danny Lee of Iron Heads GC, and Britain’s own Sam Horsfield from Majesticks GC.
John Catlin, the leader of the pack and the reigning International Series Macau champion, alongside his closest challenger, Ben Campbell—who nudged past Catlin at the International Series Morocco—are both in the mix for both tournaments. Throw in Wade Ormsby, last year’s champ at Black Mountain, and you’ve got yourself a recipe for some gripping golf.
Peter Uihlein, fresh from his maiden victory in Surrey, is all geared up to keep his winning streak alive.
Speaking of his return, Uihlein said, “There’s plenty of talent, really good players, and I think they just haven’t really had as big a platform to showcase their skills.
The International Series is just going to continue to keep growing and getting better, and I think you’ll start seeing more talent be recognised.”
He further emphasized the significance of the series, “Playing a global schedule is beneficial long term.
Being able to play different types of courses, different types of grass, different cultures, really enhances your ability to play quality golf around the world.
The international scope that they have allows guys to do that and getting outside of Asia and going into Africa and Europe has been great for the Asian Tour and The International Series, and it’s only getting better and better.”
Over the next two months, these warriors of the green will battle it out in a six-tournament stretch, aiming for not just glory but also a coveted spot on the LIV Golf League for the 2025 season.
Rahul Singh, head of The International Series, commented, “With six events left on the calendar, we have two-thirds of the season’s rankings points and $US 15.5 million in prize purses still available.
There is an opportunity for anyone to make a move, and we are delighted that this thrilling conclusion gets started with two tournaments in the heartlands of Asian golf.”
