The 2024 Race to Dubai is shaping up to be an epic finish, with the season-ending DP World Tour Championship at Jumeirah Golf Estates promising a showdown you won’t want to miss.
From November 14-17, the Earth Course will be packed with some of the biggest names in golf, all fighting for a place in history—and a solid slice of that DP World Tour glory.
Among the confirmed heavyweights is Billy Horschel, fresh off his second BMW PGA Championship win, alongside Major champions like Shane Lowry, Justin Rose, and Adam Scott. And let’s not forget Robert MacIntyre, the Scotsman who bagged the Genesis Scottish Open in July.
They’re joining reigning Race to Dubai champ Rory McIlroy and Tommy Fleetwood, who know a thing or two about conquering European fairways.
These lads are already confirmed for the season’s final Rolex Series event, setting the stage for a dramatic finish.
Horschel’s victory at Wentworth catapulted him to third on the Race to Dubai Rankings (thanks, Rolex), and he’s all set for his second crack at the season finale in Dubai.
Now, if you remember, back in 2014, Billy did a little thing called winning the FedExCup on the PGA TOUR—taking home the BMW Championship and TOUR Championship in consecutive weeks. The guy knows how to close out a season.
“I’m excited to return to Dubai next month to finish my DP World Tour season,” said Horschel, obviously amped for a shot at adding to his already stacked trophy case.
“I really enjoyed my experience at Jumeirah Golf Estates three years ago, and I’m looking forward to getting back to the UAE.
It’s been great playing in some of the DP World Tour’s most historic events in the latter part of the season, and I hope to finish the year on a high note with another memorable experience in Dubai.”
Could Horschel make history again? He sure thinks so: “I’m incredibly proud to have won the TOUR Championship on the PGA TOUR, so to have a chance to add the DP World Tour Championship title to my trophy cabinet would certainly be very special.”
He won’t have it easy, though. Justin Rose is coming back, and let’s not forget Adam Scott, who claimed the Masters in 2013.
Shane Lowry, the man who conquered Royal Portrush in 2019, is also set to compete in Dubai, fresh off confirming his place at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship the week before.
Lowry’s had a cracking season himself, boasting 13 Top 20 finishes worldwide and teaming up with McIlroy to take the Zurich Classic of New Orleans.
Speaking of MacIntyre, the Scotsman is enjoying a career-best year. After making his Ryder Cup debut, he’s gone on to snag both the RBC Canadian Open and the Genesis Scottish Open in 2024.
Sitting comfortably in sixth place on the Race to Dubai Rankings, MacIntyre’s got his eyes set on beating his previous best finish of ninth back in 2019. And honestly, with the form he’s in, you wouldn’t bet against him.
The final line-up for the DP World Tour Championship will be decided after the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship, with the top 50 players from the Race to Dubai Rankings making the cut.
