LIV Golf has introduced its Impact Leaderboard, a fresh, innovative platform aimed at bringing some friendly competition to the sustainability and community impact projects carried out by its teams.
This exciting development is part of LIV Golf’s “Potential, Unleashed” program, which is all about using the game of golf to foster a better future.
The Impact Leaderboard is designed to track how well LIV Golf’s 13 teams are doing in terms of giving back to their communities, supporting youth around the world, and promoting sustainability.
Teams earn points for their charitable work throughout the year, and those with the highest scores will be celebrated ahead of the next season.
The top four teams will split a $150,000 prize, with all winnings going straight back into their impact and sustainability programs.
Jake Jones, LIV Golf’s Senior VP of Impact and Sustainability, explained, “LIV Golf teams are committed to making a positive impact through the game of golf and the Impact Leaderboard provides a stage to showcase the athletes’ competitive spirits off the course in a truly meaningful way.”
Three teams that have already made waves are Majesticks GC, Smash GC, and Iron Heads GC.
The Majesticks have teamed up with Complete PE to launch “Little Sticks,” aiming to integrate golf into the physical education curriculum of over 200 schools, impacting nearly 40,000 students.
Smash GC introduced the Smash for Success Junior Golfer Scholarship and the Mentor of the Year Award, celebrated at LIV Golf Houston and the Team Championship event.
Meanwhile, Iron Heads GC’s “Green-Up Your Local Muni” initiative encourages junior golfers to leave their local courses cleaner and greener, making a positive impact on hundreds of young people across several countries.
Radha Balani, Managing Partner at Think Beyond, remarked, “Sports teams and athletes have an incredible platform and opportunity to drive societal and environmental change.”
“Potential, Unleashed” sets ambitious goals: to positively impact the lives of 5.4 million young people globally and to become climate positive by 2030. This involves four key programs:
- LIV To Learn: Partnering with organizations to boost educational and vocational opportunities, especially for refugees and displaced young people.
- LIV Green: Reducing the environmental impact of golf events and investing in climate-related research and innovation.
- Transform The Game: Enhancing access to golf for women, girls, and diverse communities through training and employment opportunities.
- The Way We LIV: Embedding sustainability into every aspect of LIV Golf’s operations, from event delivery to community engagement.
