Toptracer, the leading range technology in golf, has just announced a thrilling five-year partnership with The R&A for The Open and AIG Women’s Open.
This dynamic collaboration promises to bring fans closer to the game, whether they’re at the championships or enjoying a day at a Toptracer-equipped facility.
The full scope of this partnership will be on display at The 152nd Open at Royal Troon.
Here, Toptracer will unveil a groundbreaking indoor application of its technology, developed in collaboration with Foresight Sports.
This innovative setup will be featured in The R&A Swing Zone, offering spectators an exclusive first look.
Additionally, this cutting-edge product will be showcased within the official Championship hospitality areas.
As the Official Ball Tracking Technology Supplier, Toptracer will continue to enhance The Open and AIG Women’s Open with its top-tier tracing technology.
This includes the ‘Tournament Range’ technology at the Championship driving range, which displays real-time data like carry distance, ball speed, and launch angle on a large LED screen.
This feature not only aids competitors but also boosts engagement for spectators and TV viewers.
Golf enthusiasts both at The Open and at over 1,000 Toptracer Range sites worldwide will have the unique opportunity to experience Royal Troon through Toptracer’s Virtual Golf mode.
They can also participate in a global ‘Closest to Pin’ competition, inspired by Royal Troon’s famous 8th hole, the ‘Postage Stamp.’
Scott Blevins, General Manager of Toptracer, shared his excitement: “Toptracer has been providing ball-tracking to The R&A at The Open for more than 14 years, and our team has shown remarkable dedication and creativity.
This partnership allows us to deliver our trusted technology and data on one of golf’s biggest stages.
We are grateful to The R&A for placing their trust in Toptracer technology for the foreseeable future.”
Neil Armit, Chief Commercial Officer at The R&A, echoed this sentiment: “The Open is one of the world’s great sporting events, watched by millions globally.
Having Toptracer at The Open since 2010 has been crucial to delivering the best viewer experience.
When we sought a long-term partnership for The Open and the AIG Women’s Open, Toptracer’s accuracy, innovation, and global presence made them the clear choice.”
Armit continued, “We’re equally excited about the value and enjoyment this partnership will bring to golfers worldwide, beyond just TV screens.
Millions will be able to tackle Championship venues at their local Toptracer Ranges, compete in virtual events against golfers from 38 countries, and enjoy more Toptracer and Championship content across digital channels. This is something every golfer should be thrilled about.”
Mark your calendars: the new Toptracer Range Indoor solution will be available for pro shops and retailers starting September 1, 2024.
This exciting development is set to revolutionize how golfers interact with the sport, bringing the thrill of championship play to local ranges around the globe.
