Jamie Rutherford, riding a wave of recent success, sets his sights on a breakthrough at the upcoming Le Vaudreuil Golf Challenge.
The English golfer, buoyed by two top-ten finishes in his last four starts, arrives at Golf PGA France du Vaudreuil aiming to clinch his first Challenge Tour title.
Returning to familiar European terrain has proven advantageous for Rutherford, currently ranked 28th on the season-long standings. He credits his recent form to a game that thrives on tighter, more strategic courses.
“Since returning to Europe, I’ve felt more at ease with the style of golf here,” Rutherford noted. “These courses demand precision off the tee and around the greens, which plays to my strengths.”
Reflecting on his improved putting, Rutherford highlighted its pivotal role in his recent performances: “I’ve been sinking more putts, which is crucial for finishing higher up the leaderboard.”
The Le Vaudreuil Golf Challenge holds special significance for Rutherford, who achieved a career-best third place last year with a display of aggressive yet controlled play.
“I approach this course with confidence,” he emphasized. “Being accurate off the tee is key here, given the challenging rough and tight fairways.”
Looking ahead to his 95th Challenge Tour appearance, Rutherford remains determined to clinch that elusive first victory.
“I feel ready,” he asserted. “I’ve honed my game over the seasons, and now it’s about sealing the deal.”
Joining Rutherford in Normandy is a formidable lineup including seasoned pros like David Horsey and Marc Warren, as well as Road to Mallorca leaders Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen and John Parry, all vying for top honours.
As the tournament kicks off, Rutherford tees off alongside Julien Sale and Lars van Meijel, aiming to capitalize on his course knowledge and recent form to make a decisive impact from day one.
