Joel Moscatel is on a mission to claim another victory on home turf as he prepares for the Challenge de Cádiz at Iberostar Real Golf Novo Sancti Petri.
The Spanish golfer, riding high on recent success, is eager to continue his impressive form on the Road to Mallorca.
After securing his maiden Challenge Tour win at the Challenge de España in Seville last month, Moscatel has climbed to third place in the season-long Rankings with a victory and two other top-ten finishes in his last three outings.
Reflecting on his triumph, Moscatel shared, “Winning in Seville was so special for me. It was a perfect week, and having my family, friends, caddie, and coach there made it amazing.”
Looking ahead to the Challenge de Cádiz, Moscatel acknowledges the pressure of playing in front of a home crowd, saying, “I get quite nervous playing at home in Spain, but last time I handled it very well. There are a lot of people you don’t want to disappoint.”
The 25-year-old golfer is optimistic about his chances on the challenging course in Andalucía, emphasizing the importance of managing nerves and playing strategically.
“It’s not a bad thing to be nervous,” Moscatel noted. “Hopefully, I can use these nerves to my advantage this week.”
The weather conditions are expected to play a significant role in determining the scores, with Moscatel commenting, “The weather will affect the winning score so much because there can be so much wind around here.”
“This course is so good, and the rough is very thick, so it is important not to miss greens or you can get some pretty difficult lies.”
Moscatel will face tough competition at the Challenge de Cádiz, with top-ranked players such as Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen and John Parry joining him in the field.
Also competing are seasoned winners Alvaro Quiros, Sam Hutsby, and Pep Anglés, making for a competitive lineup at the fourth edition of this event.
The Challenge de Cádiz tees off at 8:00 am local time, with Moscatel starting his campaign alongside Neergaard-Petersen and Alexander Levy at 2:00 pm.
Golf enthusiasts can expect an exciting week of competition as Moscatel aims to add another title to his burgeoning career.
