The Volvo Car Scandinavian Mixed is gearing up to be a thrilling display of golfing talent as Vincent Norrman and Madelene Sagström return to their homeland for this unique tournament.
Set against the picturesque backdrop of Vasatorps Golfklubb from June 6-9, this event promises to be as tantalizing as Swedish meatballs at a midsummer feast.
Imagine this: 78 men and 78 women, all teeing off from the same greens, vying for one prize fund and one trophy.
It’s like a high-stakes dance-off, only with fewer sequins and more birdies.
The Volvo Car Scandinavian Mixed, co-sanctioned by the DP World Tour and Ladies European Tour, is not just another golf tournament—it’s an egalitarian smackdown where the fairways have no gender, only golfers.
Vincent Norrman, the two-time DP World Tour winner, is making his first return to this event since 2021.
Last time, he sauntered away with a share of 14th at Vallda Golf & Country Club, a respectable showing but hardly the stuff of legends.
This year, however, he’s coming in hot, fresh off victories at the Barbasol Championship and the Irish Open.
Norrman’s anticipation is palpable. “I’m really excited to have had the opportunity to work this event into my schedule,” said Norrman.
“Being based in the United States I don’t get the opportunity to come back as often as I’d like, so I’m looking forward to playing in front of the home crowds again.
It’s a really interesting tournament and there has been some Swedish success in the past. I’d love to add my name to that list and pick up another win.”
On the women’s side, we have the formidable Madelene Sagström. A three-time Solheim Cup star, Sagström lit up the course last year, finishing joint 12th.
“I had a great experience in Sweden at last year’s event. The atmosphere was unlike anything I’ve experienced at a golf tournament and it’s great to have the opportunity to compete against the guys from the DP World Tour,” she said, her eyes twinkling with competitive fire.
“We’ve shown over the last few years that we are more than capable of going head-to-head with them and I think we’re all looking forward to having another opportunity to do so in a few weeks’ time.”
Joining this dynamic duo are a constellation of Scandinavian stars including Alexandor Björk, Linn Grant—who became a household name by clinching the title in 2022—Johanna Gustavsson, Caroline Hedwall, Jesper Svensson, and Sebastian Söderberg.
It’s a smorgasbord of talent that promises to turn Helsingborg into the epicentre of golf excellence.
This event isn’t just about the glory; it’s also about the points. Official World Ranking points are up for grabs for both tours, along with Race to Dubai points for the men and Order of Merit and Solheim Cup points for the women. So, every swing counts.
