2025 PIF London Championship Preview: Home Talent, Historic Course, Big Stakes

The PIF London Championship is back—and not just back, but booming. From August 8–10, Centurion Club in leafy Hertfordshire will once again play host to some of the finest shotmakers on the planet.

But this year’s edition isn’t just another stop on the calendar—it’s the third chapter in the newly launched PIF Global Series, and with $2 million in prize money at stake, there’s more than just silverware on the line.

Now, if you’ve not been paying attention, the PIF London Championship has quietly turned itself into a marquee fixture on the Ladies European Tour (LET).

Last year, Ireland’s Leona Maguire tore up the script and scribbled her name into history, becoming the first Irishwoman to lift an LET trophy. No pressure, then, for this year’s field.

Leading the English charge is a woman who’s been winning in every hemisphere this season—Mimi Rhodes.

Three titles in 2025 already—Australia’s Ford Women’s NSW Open, the Joburg Ladies Open in South Africa, and the Dutch Ladies Open. She’s not just winning; she’s dominating.

Unsurprisingly, Rhodes is perched atop the LET Order of Merit, and she’ll arrive at Centurion with form, flair, and a very real shot at extending her lead.

Alongside her, Cara Gainer will be teeing it up after her early-season fireworks in Morocco, where she won the Lalla Meryem Cup in a nerve-jangling playoff.

If you like your golf gritty, Gainer delivers. Then there’s Bronte Law, who has three LET titles in her locker and plays with the kind of fire that suggests she’s not done collecting trophies.

Alice Hewson, Centurion’s own, will also be in the field. The 27-year-old, who turned pro in 2019, already has three titles to her name—including the 2024 Swiss Ladies Open.

She knows the course better than anyone, and when you combine local knowledge with talent, you usually get something worth watching.

Keep an eye out for Annabell Fuller too. The rookie may be new to the pro game, but she’s no stranger to high-level pressure.

Three Curtis Cups, multiple European Ladies’ Team Championships, and a top-three finish at the PIF Saudi Ladies International—this young gun has arrived.

And then, of course, there’s Trish Johnson. The veteran. The legend. The newly minted MBE. With 29 professional wins—including 19 on the LET and three on the LPGA Tour—she’s the gold standard for English golf.

The fact she’s still lacing up the spikes is a testament to her love for the game (and possibly her loathing for retirement).

Also flying the flag for England will be Amy Taylor, Charlotte Laffar, Eleanor Givens, Hannah Burke, Hannah Screen, Lily-May Humphreys, Liz Young and Rosie Davies—a full-blown homecoming of talent.

As for the PIF Global Series itself, this London showdown follows stops in Saudi Arabia—where Thailand’s Jeeno Thitikul was unstoppable—and South Korea, where Hyo Joo Kim proved class is permanent by defending her title.

With only five events in the 2025 series, every point, every shot, and every dollar counts.
