The 2024 Senior Open Championship, sponsored by Rolex, is now open for entries, welcoming both exempt and non-exempt players to vie for glory.
Scheduled from July 25-28, the prestigious event returns to the revered Carnoustie Golf Links for the third time in its illustrious 37-year history.
Players seeking entry can participate in one of four Qualifying Events to be held on the East Coast of Scotland.
These events, conveniently located within 20 miles of Carnoustie Golf Links, will be hosted at renowned venues including Downfield Golf Club in Dundee, Panmure Golf Club in Carnoustie, the Medal Course at Monifieth Golf Links, and the 1562 course at Montrose Golf Links.
With rich histories of hosting Open Final Qualifying and Senior Open Qualifying, these venues promise a challenging yet rewarding experience for participants.
Additionally, a Qualifying Event will be conducted in the United States at Firestone Country Club on July 8, managed by the PGA TOUR Champions.
Eligible players, including male Professionals with current Tour affiliation or PGA Membership, and male Amateurs with a precise handicap index of 0.4 or lower under the World Handicap System, are invited to compete for a chance to secure a spot in the championship field.
David Williams, Tournament Director of The Senior Open Presented by Rolex, said: “It’s very exciting to open qualifying for this year’s edition of The Senior Open Presented by Rolex.
This marks the start of a three-month process that will culminate in the winner being crowned at Carnoustie’s legendary Championship Course in July.
“The four Qualifying venues will present a tricky challenge to the players hoping to reach this year’s Championship.
Given the proximity of all four venues to the Angus Coastline, they will also offer ideal preparation to those who earn one of the available spots in the field.”
