This year’s grand finale will unfold at the prestigious Maridoe Golf Club in Carrollton, a stone’s throw from the bustling metropolis of Dallas.
From September 20-22, golf enthusiasts across the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex will witness the star-studded showdown of LIV Golf’s finest teams, battling it out in a format that melds match play with stroke play to crown the ultimate team champions.
The Dallas Debut
“Everything is bigger in Texas,” as the saying goes, and LIV Golf Commissioner and CEO Greg Norman couldn’t agree more.
“Our LIV Golf players are looking forward to playing in the Dallas-Fort Worth area with its great golf tradition,” said Norman.
“Texas is legendary for producing and hosting great golfers who set a high bar while competing for championships”.
“Our LIV Golf Team Championship at Maridoe Golf Club will be a great experience for our players and all the fans in attendance.”
Tickets are already on sale at LIVGolf.com, and if last season’s nail-biting finale in Miami is anything to go by, fans are in for an electrifying experience.
The Crushers GC, led by the ever-enthusiastic Bryson DeChambeau, claimed victory in Miami, and DeChambeau is eager to replicate that success in Dallas.
“This year’s Team Championship at Maridoe Golf Club holds special significance for me as we make our Dallas debut and our team strives to defend our title in front of a home crowd,” DeChambeau remarked.
“I’m excited to play this course and compete in front of Texas fans for our closing event and can’t wait to bring LIV Golf’s electrifying energy and fierce competition to Dallas.”
A Course Designed for Champions
Maridoe Golf Club, ranked among Golf Digest’s top three new private courses in 2018, promises a formidable challenge for the competitors.
The course, designed by Steve Smyers and sprawling across 7,817 yards, is known for its demanding layout.
Maridoe Golf Club Founder Albert Huddleston proudly noted the club’s history of hosting prestigious events, from the Southern Amateur to the USGA Women’s Four-Ball Championship.
“Maridoe is designed to be an enjoyable but demanding member’s club while always ready to provide a great test for elite golfers to entertain golf enthusiasts,” Huddleston said.
The Competition Heats Up
The 2024 Team Championship format has been tweaked to elevate the competition.
Teams will be seeded 1-13 based on their standings following the LIV Golf Chicago event.
The top three teams get a bye into the semifinals, while the remaining ten teams will duke it out in five quarterfinal matches.
Captains have the strategic option to participate in singles or foursomes matchups during the first two days, adding an extra layer of intrigue.
Halfway through the season, Crushers GC leads the pack with 105.50 points, followed closely by Legion XIII, an expansion team captained by Jon Rahm, with 94 points.
The all-Australian Ripper GC, led by Cam Smith, sits in third with 90 points, followed by Torque GC, captained by Joaquin Niemann, who boasts top-six finishes in all seven tournaments this season.
Star-Studded Field and Family Fun
LIV Golf’s roster reads like a who’s who of golf greats. From Brooks Koepka and Dustin Johnson to Phil Mickelson and Sergio Garcia, fans will see some of the sport’s biggest names in action.
